COMMUNITY GAMES GIRLS U-13 INDOOR SOCCER: “The Ahane girls played very well in their three games, and their coaches were very proud of the fact that they scored 13 goals over their those three games. They played St Senan’s in their first match with Clair Conway opening the scoring. After St Senan’s equalised Ahane went ahead again through Ellen Costello. However, St Senan’s scored a few easy goals and led at the break 3-2. Ellen added her second but Ahane lost in the end by 5-3 even though Ahane had no luck with Ellen hitting the post no less than 3 times in the match.

“Second game went in a similar fashion with Ahane leading twice but end up losing 5-4 against Regional even though Ellen Costello netted all 4 goals and again hit the post twice. By any stretch of the imagination, Ahane should have won but again ended up on the wrong side of the result.

“Third game was against Kilteely/ Dromkeen/ Garrydoolis and while Ellen was being rested Kilteely went 4-0 ahead. Ahane came fighting back with 5 more goals from Ellen Costello brought Ahane very close but finally Kilteeely just edged it 8-5.

“A tremendous effort from the girls all round who were playing indoor for the first time. They were all stars on the day and were a credit to their parents and the parish. Team: Aoife Ryan, Claire Conway, Katie Murphy, Ruth O’Sullivan, Sarah Peril, Emma Roche, Leanne Cole, Ellen Costello and Manager Tadhg Murphy.”
