Church News: - Mass in Broadford for the month of January 2014 will be on Sunday mornings at 9.30am. The reader for Sunday January 26 is Gerry Mulcahy and the Eucharistic Ministers are Maudie Collins and Sr. Ann.

Parish Pastoral Team: -Following on from our Mission, we are proceeding with the formation of a Pastoral Team. An open meeting regarding same will be held on Monday February 3 at 7.30pm in the Hall Dromcollogher. At this meeting the role of a Pastoral Team in our Parish will be discussed and if you are interested in becoming a member come along. We have arranged three training sessions on the following dates: (1) Wednesday evening February 12th in the Community Centre Broadford from 8 o’clock to 9.30. (2) Thursday evening February 20 in Dromcollogher Hall from 8 o’clock to 9.30. (3) Monday evening March 3rd in the Community Centre Broadford from 8 o’clock to 9.30.
Hazelwood College Evening Classes: Evening Courses Spring 2014 Registration evening at the College is Monday January 27 from 7 to 8.30. Classes to start on Monday /Tuesday February 3 and 4.
Rathfredagh Cheshire Home Charity Walk: The annual Rathfredagh Charity Walk takes place this Sunday January 26th.There are two routes (1) Barna to Rathfredagh and (2) Courtenay Lodge to Rathfredagh and transport will be available to take people to the starting points. This year there is also a charity cycle in conjunction with the walk which will start from the Deebert House Hotel Kilmallock at 9am. Contact Tom O’Keeffe at 087/9793556 for details of the cycle. Road Repaired: - A big congratulations and thank you to the local public representatives and the Limerick Co. Council for their prompt response to the dangerous situation that had arisen when a section the Broadford /Gleann na gCapaill road slid into the river Camuisce three weeks ago and created a real hazard to pedestrians and motorists alike. The engineers and staff of the Council were quickly on the scene and repair work was carried out, so now I can report that all is well again and the danger is averted.
Active Retirement News: The Broadford and District Active Retirement group resume their activies after the winter break with a meeting on Monday night next January 27 in the Day Care Centre Broadford at 7,30pm. Everybody is welcome. Just to remind all our members and also new members that the Annual General Meeting of the Active Retirement will be held in the Day Care Centre Broadford on Monday February 3 at 7.30pm.
Limerick Senior Football: Congratulations to Seanie Buckley from the local Dromcollogher/Broadford club who will captain the Limerick Senior Football team for the third year in a row. The past two years he has led Limerick to two National League Division 4 titles and long may your success continue.
G.A.A. Lottery: The numbers drawn at the January 13 draw at the Corner House Dromcollogher were 12, 18, 26 and 27. There was no winner of the €9.500 jackpot. There were three winners of the Match Three prize of €150 each received €50. They were Jim Barry Broadford, The O’Carroll’s of Sydney and Maura Meaney Dromcollogher. The €50 lucky dip winners were Flor McAuliffe Freemount and Mike Madigan Dromcollogher. Next week’s Jackpot is €9,600 (win or share) and the Match Three prize is €100. Tickets are available at all business premises or from any committee member.
Health and Beauty:Health and Beauty course will take place in the Broadford Enterprise Centre. The start date is Thursday February 16 and the course will run for 12 weeks every Thursday evening from 7pm to 9pm. If interested please contact KAREN on 0876319893
Youth Club: A youth club is opening in the Broadford Enterprise Centre, The club caters for ages 12 plus. In unit one at the enterprise centre every Friday evenings from 8.00 -9.15. Parents must attend first night only to fill in forms etc.
Cards at Neenans: The winners of the 45 drive at Neenans on Monday January 6 were Noel McCarthy Tullaha and Anthony Duggan Lisgriffen with 8 games. Runners up were Jim O’Connor Ballinlongig and Timmy Murphy Springfield. The spot prize went to Noel McCarthy and Anthony Duggan. The raffle prizes were won by 1st prize €35 Dan Kenneally Lacka. 2nd prize €20 Noel McCarthy Tullaha. 3rd prize €10 Enna O’Connell Buttavant. The winners on January 13th shared 1st and 2nd prizes with 9 games each and they were Willie O’Gorman Milford & Enna O’Connell Buttavant and Con Ahern Ratheenagh & Anthony Duggan Lisgriffen. The spot prize went to Mickie Murphy Springfield and Julia Duggan Broadford.
Raffle winners were 1st prize €35 Con Ahern. 2nd prize €20 Mary Biggane. 3rd prize €10 Mickie Murphy. Cards continue every Monday night.
Community Games:Indoor Soccer U13. U13 team played is playing again this Saturday 25. Best of luck to the team on Saturday and to their manager Denis Ahern.
Indoor Soccer U10. Both U10 teams played last Saturday 18. They won 1 of their games but lost 2 so unfortunately they are out on this occasion.
Thank to both teams for all their effort and to their team manager Michael Pierce.
