This will be the thirteenth edition of the Ballybrown Journal and there are still a few copies of some of the old editions still available from Tom Donovan or Willie Ryan at a cost of €10.
This year’s launch will take place in the Ballybrown GAA Clubhouse in Clarina on Wednesday, December 4 at 9pm. This year’s Journal will be launched by the principle of Ballybrown National School Mr. Joe Lyons. The Pioneer committee and the Journal committee would like to thank Joe for accepting our invitation. We are looking forward to a large attendance on the night and the Journal will be on sale at just €10. Once again the Pioneer Association would like to thank both Martin and Brian for their continued support.
DRAMA: The Blackwalk Players drama group will present “Love in the Title” a play written by the well-known playwright Hugh Leonard. It will be staged for two nights, Saturday, November 16 and Sunday, November 17 in Mungret, St.Pauls GAA Club at 8:30p.m. This play should have strong local interest as it is set in Corcamore, Clarina against the backdrop of Carrig O’ Gunnell Castle. When Kate arrives in the fields of Corcamore to paint a watercolour of the legendary stone, Clough-a-Reagan she is accompanied by the youthful versions of her mother, Triona and her grandmother, Cat, who are in their own time. Their conversation reveals their family history and its intricate relation with the wider history of their culture. Admission is €10. Please note content may not be suitable for children.
