MINOR FOOTBALLERS WIN COUNTY CHAMPIONSHIP: A Ryan Deere point five minutes from the end captured the County A Minor football title after a gripping game with St Senans/Ballysteen in Rathkeale last Week. Determination, great team work and hunger were the ingredients for this wonderful success
The game started brightly for the westerners and they looked the polished item, but David Hannon had the first score a point from play. The combination from the West responded with five points in succession to leave them comfortably ahead 0-1 to 0-5. A lifeline for Pallas came after when a speculative shot to the goalmouth by Darren Cosgrave was dropped by the goalkeeper and David Hannon pounced for the game only goal. A further point by Joe Keogh left the scoreline at half time 1-2 to 0-7 in the Westerners favour. On the resumption, Ryan Deere put the minimum between the sides with a free. The combination outfit added another point before another Ryan Deere free again leaving the minimum in it. The game was now entering a critical period and the lads were the more hungry and determined. Alan Cosgrave lifted their confidence when he equalised with a point from play. But with five minutes left on the clock Ryan Deere kicked a majestic point from play to put us ahead.
St Senans/Ballysteen had numerous chances to level the tie but failed and the cup headed to East Limerick on a 1-6 to 0-8 scoreline.

GAA NEWS: Last Sunday saw our U-21s travel the short distance to Oola to face Cappamore in the East final. Conditions were against both teams in what proved to be a scrappy match. Pallasgreen took the early lead with a point from Ryan Deere, but this spurred on Cappamore who scored 1-3 without reply. At times in the first half our goalkeeper, Colin Ryan kept Pallasgreen in the match pulling off a number of fine saves. Late in the first half Pallasgreen discovered their shooting boots to score three points bringing the half-time score to 1-3 to 0-4 in favour of Cappamore.
The second half saw Pallasgreen dominate possession, but waste some very good chances, until the ball fell to Darren Roche at corner forward, whose enterprise ensured that Pallasgreen restored the lead with a goal. Cappamore struck back with a point of their own, but once Pallasgreen scented the lead they never looked back. Two points from brothers Pa and Owen Roche either side of a Cappamore point ensured that Pallasgreen won the game by the slimmest of margins, 1-6 to 1-5.
