CEMETERY SUNDAY: Sunday November 17th will be Cemetery Sunday for November. Rosary & prayers for the dead will be prayed in the three cemeteries of the parish in the afternoon. In Dromkeen at 2.30pm, in Ballinlough at 3pm and 3.30pm in Kilteely - assemble in the church - names of those who died in the past twelve months will be remembered and a candle lit for them, followed by procession to the cemetery for the rosary.
THE CELEBRATION OF SACRED SONG & MUSIC: will be on November 24 in Kilteely Church at 7.30pm sharp. The CJ Kickham Band, Derek Ryan, Parish choir & school choir will participate. Please encourage others to come and enjoy the celebration. A donation at the door is requested to cover expenses, please be generous.
Fundraising for the hall - Our East Limerick Broadband is currently up and running very well in parts of our parish with those that have it installed very happy with the service, many others have stated that they will join up to our broadband but will have to wait until the contracts with current providers expire. With regret KDC find ourselves in the position of needing to fundraise.
We have applied for a permit for a “400 DRAW”. we intend to run this over ten weeks commencing December 1 for a weekly contribution of €5. Each paid up person will be entered into the draw in which €500 will be paid out each week in prizes, we would hope to raise in excess of €10,000. There will be more details over the coming weeks.
COMMUNITY GAMES: Kilteely Dromkeen Garrydoolis Community Games held its AGM on Thursday, 7th November. Those present reflected on the very successful year that the area had with children of all ages enjoying participation in the very wide variety of activities offered. The following officers have been elected: Chairperson: Caroline McCarthy, Secretary: Noreen O’Dea, Joint Treasurers: Sean O’Grady & Rose Hanley, PRO: Robert Holmes, Youth Officer: Caoimhe O’Dea. Outgoing secretary Robert O’Dea and Treasurer Simon Ryan were thanked for their great commitment and work for the area over the last number of years. The area is currently planning the pre Christmas activities with weekly training already taking place for Draughts teams and U13 Girls indoor soccer team. Art, Model Making and Handwriting competitions will all take place before the end of November. Full details of all activities and competitions will be made known through the local newsletter as well as through the local primary schools. Details can also be had from chairperson and secretary. We look forward to a great year of Community Games activity throughout the Kilteely, Dromkeen and Garrydoolis area.
KILTEELY TIDY TOWNS: Cake sale on Sun 8th December in Cill Bhride at 11.30am. We ask as many ladies as possible throughout the parish to donate cake, buns, etc. All donations welcome. There will also be a raffle for Christmas cake, Christmas hamper, etc.
Christmas Fair: Bilboa National School will hold its annual Christmas Fair on Sunday 17th November at 2pm in the Community Centre, Cappamore. This event is now in its 27th year and has always proven to be a very enjoyable day out with a huge variety of competitions and entertainment to suit all ages. There is something for everyone: Wheel of fortune, Santa, coats & handbags stall, bric-a-brac, cakes, toys, books, games, competitions, children’s entertainment and lots, lots more. All proceeds will go towards the development of the school.
INDOOR GAMES: The Soccer and Gaa Clubs have come together to run a fun indoor games evening for all boys and girls aged 5 to 7 every Wednesday in Caherconlish Community hall from 7 to 8pm, €2 each and maximum €3 per family. For more details contact Noel O Dea 0876278022 or Tommy O Dea 0872511925
