KINCORA KIDS FUNDRAISERS: A Table quiz will be held in Walsh’s Bar at 9pm on Friday, November 15th in aid of Kincora Kids Community Childcare Service. Entry for table of four is €20 and the winning team will receive €100. There will also be many spot prizes on the night.
Kincora Kids will also hold an Indoor Car boot sale on Sunday, December 1st from 11 am to 2.30 p.m. The organisers would appreciate donations of children’s clothes (no socks, underwear or vests) shoes: toys: DVD’s and baby equipment, which may be dropped at the Crèche before November 27th.
All proceeds from both events go towards the completion of the outdoor playground.
TRÓCAIRE EMERGENCY APPEAL: A retiring collection to support the people of Syria will be held at all masses in the Killaloe parish this coming weekend. Please support this most worthy cause.
CHRISTMAS PARTY: Killaloe-Ballina Senior Citizens will start the ‘festive’ season with their annual Christmas, which will be held in the Lakeside hotel on Sunday, November 24th. Mass will be celebrated at 3pm and will be followed by dinner and entertainment until 8pm.
SCOUTING ACTIVITIES: The Clare County Cub Scout Forum was held on Sunday last. Cubs from all over the County travelled to the Ruan Campsite to take part in this annual event where they can have their say in the running of their Cub Scout Programme and their annual events. The highlight of the day is the election of new Cub Scouts to represent the County. Four Cubs were elected to go forwards to the Provincial Forum where they may decide to seek higher office by running for election as Provincial Reps. Congratulations to Yolanda Ramirez, Calum Nolan and Ivor Larkin of the Killaloe Scout Group and Oscar Bogenberger of the Mountshannon Group who were the successful candidates.
The previous week saw the Scout and Venture sections from around the county hold their Youth Forum also in Ruan. This again is the opportunity for the youth members in the county to have their say on the running of events and the program within Clare. Congratulations to Zak O’Farrell from Killaloe and his election as a scout county rep and to Donal Watson, Luke Roberts and Ciaran Van Damm on their election as venture reps.
CHRISTMAS CRAFT FAIRS: The Clare Craft makers annual Christmas Fair will be held in the Lakeside hotel on this Sunday, November 17th from 11am to 5pm. This is always a most popular event and presents an opportunity to purchase some unique Christmas gifts. On November 30th and December 1st), A Christmas Fair will be held in the Hunt Museum. Children’s entertainment will include Christmas Craft workshops and face painting.
WOMEN’S GROUP: The newly formed Women’s Group meets every second Monday at the Family Resource Centre. The next meeting will be held on November 25th from 10am to 11.30am. For more information contact Joan on 087 757 5190 or Tracey on 061 374741.
FUNDRAISING EVENTS: On Saturday, December 7th the local Ború Singers will host a Variety Concert in ‘Brian Ború on the hill’ Function Room at 8pm. Proceeds from this event will be donated to Ballina GAA Pitch Development.
Later in the month the Choir will visit Limerick Milk Market for a Carol Singing hour (11am to 12 noon) on Saturday, December 21st in aid of Waterman’s Daycare and Respite Centre and Ballina GAA Club.
CHRISTMAS SHOEBOX APPEAL: You are reminded that the collection date for the 2013 Christmas Shoebox appeal is Wednesday, November 20th. Local stores where boxes may be dropped off are Heaney’s and Whelan’s in Killaloe and T.J’s in Ballina.
