Card Game: The Winter card game commenced in Mountcollins on last Thursday night before a good attendance. However, there is still room for improvement and a few more tables of players would make a huge difference, so do come along and support a local community effort.

The winners on Thursday night were, Connie Lenihan, Den Lane and Liam Lane. In runners up position were Florence o Connell, Paddy Sheehan and John O Connell. The table prize went to the team of Eamon Sheehan, John Murphy and Denis O Sullivan. The door prize was won by Connie Lenihan with the raffle prizes going to Tom Lenihan, Jackie Hartnett, Eamon Sheehan, Florence O Connell and John Lyons. Cards as usual on this Thursday night at 9pm and all are welcome.

Soccer Lotto: The numbers drawn last weeks soccer lotto were 4, 17, 20 and 27. There was no winner of the jackpot prize. The winners in the lucky dip draw were Margaret and Jamie, Brosna, Marie Wolfe, c/o Kostal, Michael Downey, Brosna, Monikal Kafel, Knocknagoshel and Ita Garvey, Tournafulla. The winner of the promoter’s prize was Joan O Grady. This week’s jackpot will be €12,700.

Car Booth Sale: The annual car booth fund raising sale will be held in the Mountcollins Community Centre on Sunday, December 8th from 11am to 3pm. Why not come along and pick up a bargain for Christmas with all goods available at reasonable prices. Outside stall holders are welcome, please contact Mary, Joanie or Marian for booking.

Christmas Lights: The Christmas lights extravaganza at the Noonan home in Templeglantine will be switched on on Friday night week, November 22nd at 7pm in the presence of Santa Clause. The display will continue until January 12th, 2014 and all voluntary subscriptions will be divided between five charities.

On Thursday December 12th there will be a monster Christmas party at 5pm with Santa arriving by sleigh. He will have free presents for all the children and there will be complimentary food and refreshments for children and adults. There will also be lively musical entertainment with the Carrickerry Wren Boys and all are welcome.

45 Card Game: The annual €2,000 45 card game will be held in Raheenagh Hall on Tuesday, November 19th, commencing at 9pm. Admission is €10. There will also be a monster raffle during the evening and refreshments will also be available. There will be a supervised car park and all are welcome.

Charity run/walk: The charity 5k Fun Run/Walk will take place in Mountcollins on Sunday next, November 17th. The event will commence at the Community Centre at 12.30pm with registration form 11.15am to 12.15pm. All proceeds will go the Ray of Sunshine Foundation which will see local volunteers, Mary Barry, Patrick Lenihan and Seamus Hickey travel to Kenya in January 2014 to help in the construction of a school for deprived children in Mombasa. Refreshments will be provided afterwards and all support would be very much appreciated.

All Ireland Winners: Congratulations once again to Paul Collins, Meenkilly founder and CEO of his company Design Pro which was named the overall winner at the National Enterprise Award at the annual ceremony which was held in Dublin Castle on Thursday night last. This was a great achievement for Paul and his company as he was recently awarded the Entrepreneur of the Year in Limerick in 2013. We wish him all the best in the future.

G.A.A. Lotto: The members drawn in last weeks Mountcollins / Tournafulla G.A.A. lotto were, 1, 4, 5 and 8. There was no winner of the jackpot prize. Lucky dip prizes went to Martina Lane, Brosna, Michael Hartnett, Tournafulla. John Reidy, Abbeyfeale and Paudie Murphy, Mountcollins. The winner of the promoters prize was Dan Horgan. This weeks draw will be held in Danahers Bar, Mountcollins, where the jackpot will be €2,100 and your support is appreciated.

GAA News: The November meeting of the GAA club will be held on this Saturday evening, November 16 at 7pm in the Community Centre. There are a number of important items left over from the A.G.M to be discussed including team management for 2014, club membership, fund raising and the lotto and all members are requested to attend.

Yearly Lotto: The yearly lotto subscription scheme is now coming up for renewal. All homes in the parish will receive correspondence outlining the benefits. For an outlay of €100 you will be included in every lotto draw as well as club membership. It will also cover the text messaging service which gives all the GAA news on games, fixtures and results and your support would be greatly appreciated.

Local Wedding: Congratulations to Declan Brosnan, Riverside Drive, Mountcollins and Emma Noonan, Ardagh who returned from Australia to celebrate their wedding on Saturday last. The reception was held in the Woodlands Hotel, Adare and celebrations continued over the weekend. Every good wish to the newlyweds in the years ahead.
