Bruree Rambling House: The next Bruree Rambling House is on Friday, September 13, at the community centre, at 8pm. This month’s music session will be also part of The Gathering 2013 weekend, and will feature a local photo exhibition in the De Valera Museum. The sportsfield committee and the promoters in the local locality would like to see all the entertainers from the district and the full local support.

Soccer: Granagh United Junior Division two side have started their Desmond League with flawless style and are the only team with the maximum points to date in the West Limerick series. There is still big money on offer in the soccer club weekly draw with a jackpot of €14,950 this week. Lucky dips went to Peter Fitzgerald, Cathy Scanlon, Geraldine Herlihy and Catriona Scanlon. Tickets for the big prize are €2 each and can be purchased from the local soccer club promoters, or at any of the local outlets, such as O’Gorman’s, or the Rock Bar.

Radio invitation: Jimmy Reidy of Around the Fireside at C103, Cork, has invited a number of trad musicians in the locality to perform in one or more of his shows. As soon as the musicians put their selected group in place, he will invite them onto his show.

Hurling: The senior hurling team’s victory over Garryspillane on Friday evening at Kilmallock means that Granagh/Ballingarry have held their status to play in the senior hurling grade for the coming 2014 season.

The junior footballers qualified for their first West championship semi-final in seven years. The minor hurlers put the icing on the cake with a fifth-round championship win over Templeglantine. Our congratulations to Cathal O’Keefe on his recent promotion to the county U-16 hurling panel to play Kilkenny, Wexford and Offaly in the All-Ireland hurling series.
