Dog Night: Plans are well advanced for the Bruff Community Playground Fundraising Family Night at the Dogs which is being held at Limerick Greyhound Race Track on Saturday night, 11th May. Tickets at €10 each are now on sale from any member of the Committee and must be bought in advance to ensure the Committee benefits. Children under 16 go free. As well as twelve races on the card a super raffle will take place with a fifteen month old Angus Heifer as 1st Prize. “Keep her, sell her, bred her, freeze her the choice is yours” A sapling Greyhound Pup has been donated by renowned Kilkenny Greyhound trainer, Paul Hennessy and will be auctioned on the night. A Best Dressed Lady’s competition will also be held with a voucher from a well known Boutique going to the winner. A great night with entertainment for all the family is assured so people are urged to buy their tickets in advance.
Bruff Grange Meanus Community Games: At the Community Games Swim B competitions held in Askeaton on last Sunday the club took home eight bronze medals which was a great achievement. Those receiving medals were David Griffin, Morgan O Sullivan, Aoife O Sullivan, Carragh Joy O Regan and the Under 13 Scoil Dean Cussen Relay team – Mollie McKeogh, Aoife O Sullivan, Nicole Griffin and Zoe Bracken. Well done to all the children who took part.
Soccer: Meanus under 18 Soccer Team won a nail biting game against Ashling/Annacotty played in Meanus on last Thursday evening. The game finished 2-2 and went to extra time after which the teams were still level. Then on to penalties where Meanus scored 3 goals against 1 for Ashling/Annacotty, the scorers being Billy Hogan, Mikie O Donnell and James Meaney. The save of the night was by Stephen O Connell who saved a penalty. They now qualify for the Cup Final which will be played in Jackman Park on Wednesday, 24th April at 7 p.m. The team are managed by Eamon Hogan and Seamus Hayes who wish to say thanks for all the support for this team.
South Under 21 Hurling Final: Bruff under 21 Hurlers had a great win over Croom/Crecora in the South Final of the under 21 Hurling championship which was played in Hospital on last Sunday. The final score was 2.16 to 2.13. Among the panel of players from Meanus were Antony Punch (Capt.), Peadar McCarthy, Mark Doran, Kevin Bulfin, Tom O Donnell, Mark Cronin, Antony Nealon and Mikie O Donnell.
Bord Na nOg: The U12 hurlers started their campaign against Kilmallock last Thursday and had a fine win in very wet conditions.
After a very tight first half, the Bruff lads scored a few crucial goals in the second period to end up 5-5 to 2-1 winners.
Next up for the u12 hurlers is a home game against Kildimo Thurs 25th April. Throw in 6:45pm
The U16 hurlers will start the defense of their U16 crown with a home game against Hospital Herbertstown.
