Lattin Lawn Tennis Club: Lattin Lawn Tennis Club held its 61st AGM last Saturday night, April 13. We would like to thank all who attended. The following officers were elected; Club President Bill Ryan, Chairperson Raymond O’Brien, Assistant Chairperson John Daly, Secretary Ellen Maher, Assistant Secretary Carmel Moloney, Treasurer Steve Barker, Assistant Treasurer Susan Hourigan, Tournament Organisers Tim Carey and Sinead Pearl, Social Secretary Shane Hourigan. Membership fees are now due and can be given to any committee member. There will be a mixed doubles tournament commencing in the coming weeks with more details to follow.

Youth Club: Congratulations to Lattin Cullen Youth Club who took part in the Tipperary Regional Youth Service Junior Variety Show which was held in Drom & Inch on Sunday, April 14. The club won the Group Instrumental and Group Dance competitions. Well done to all acts which participated on the day and everyone who helped out. Leaders are very proud of ye all.

Soccer: At a special function in Quinlan’s Bar, Cullen last Saturday night, the local soccer club announced its Player of the Year winners and launched its Greyhound Race Night. Congratulations to Liam Murphy and James Riordan, who were the award winners. The race night will take place in Limerick Greyhound Stadium on June 1 and over the next few weeks committee members will be calling to houses in the area seeking support for a draw associated with that night. A total of 360 tickets will go on sale at €20 each and a first prize of €1,000. Each ticket purchaser will also be entitled to free entry into the greyhound stadium and a complimentary race card.

Shronell National School Fundraiser: A Natural Health and Wellbeing Evening will take place in the Canon Ryan GAA Hall, Lattin on Thursday, April 18, at 7.30pm. This is a fundraiser for Shronell National School and there will be an entry fee of €5 on the door. Guest speakers on the night will be Avril Lane Watson, B.Ed.(Hons), N.D.Dip.AC., Acupuncturist, Naturopath and Janette Wycherely, BScPharm, MPSI, Dip.Herb, N.D., Pharmacist, Herbalist and Naturopath. This promises to be an interesting evening. All are welcome and refreshments will be served.

GAA News: Congrats to Simon and Patrick Crehan, Shane McGrath and Kevin Kinane on giving a fantastic performance in their heat of Scor Encore on TG4 last Sunday night week. They now go forward to the next heat of this competition which will be televised on May 5. Well done lads, you are a credit to your G.A.A. club and parish .

Sympathy: At a recent G.A.A. meeting a vote of sympathy was passed to the Hughes family, Longstone, on the death of Kathleen Hughes R.I.P.

Coffee Morning: The. club will host a coffee morning/cake sale in aid of the Parkinson Association of Ireland in the Hall, Lattin on Sunday, April 21, at 12 noon. All donations of cakes, buns, scones or prizes for a raffle would be most welcome, or just come along for a cuppa and a chat. Everyone welcome. A speaker from Parkinson Ireland will attend

Progressive 45: The club would like to take this opportunity to thank all who supported its Progressive 45 Drive on Good Friday night. Winners on the night were: 1st Lar Hennerbry and Moss Hanley; 2nd Cathleen and Phil Bradshaw; 3rd Dick Laffan and Tom Hanley.

On The Field Of Play: All the teams at the different grades are training hard for the upcoming championships. Intermediate /Junior hurlers under coach Clem Smith, ex Limerick Player and Senior/Junior football under Derry Peters, Aherlow. Memberships are now due: senior players €30, students €20 and non players €30. All players must pay membership for insurance cover. Under 12 girls played Arravale Rovers in a challenge game on Monday night last.

Dates for your Diary: Sunday April 28; first round of the Intermediate County Hurling Championship with Lattin/Cullen Gaels versus Ballybacon Grange in Cashel at 3pm. Do come and support your team. The Senior Football County Championship starts in May, with the locals receiving a bye in the first round.

Charity 5 Km Run/Walk: On Saturday April 27, at 7.20 pm, Friends of Limerick ‘73 will hold a charity 5 km Run/Walk in Knockane, Pallasgreen. Entry fee for runners is €10 and walkers €5 with all proceeds going to Milford Care Centre, MS Limerick and Lisnagry Association Limerick. A special feature of the event is our “Best of Three Times” team event. There is no limit to the number of participants on a team, but the team with the three lowest aggregated times will be deemed the winner. So any GAA, family, soccer, or rugby team can participate to make the event a bit more special. We hope you will make a special effort to attend and we look forward to seeing you on the night.
