Pallaskenry Gathering and St. Mary’s Church150th Celebration: Plans are being finalised for the upcoming Pallaskenry Gathering and St. Mary’s Church 150thCelebration on the 7yh to 9th June 2013. An important public meeting to finalise the itinerary for that weekend of festivities is taking place on Wednesday the 17th April at 8pm in the Carnegie Library, Pallaskenry. All community organisations are requested to attend. Please don’t say “this should be done” or “that should be done”, come to the meeting and voice your ideas. As the name suggests it’s a weekend of celebration and therefore we are asking that as many people as possible get involved to ensure it’s success.

Pallaskenry Community Council: Pallaskenry community council are now due to hold to elections. Persons in the community council area over 18 years of age are entitled to nominate persons residing in the area to the community council. The nomination paper shows the number of persons in each election area to be elected to the council. For example, Church View are entitled to elect one number, An Curran/Rosschoill, 2 members. Should you wish to nominate a person or persons to the council, put their name and address on the nomination form. It will then be necessary to obtain this persons permission, by obtaining their signature. To ensure the continuation of the good work which has been undertaken by the community council over the years it is necessary that new blood come on board, with new ideas and enthusiasm. The recent refurbishment of the community centre is a great example of this good work, and the local community now has a great facility, which is getting great use by young and old. It is hoped the newly elected council will be operating by May. Nomination forms should be left into designated boxes in the local shops.
