ADARE COMMUNITY COUNCIL AGM: The Adare Community Council will hold their AGM on Wednesday, February 13 at 8pm in the Village Hall. All welcome so come along to share your views and maybe join a voluntary committee working to improve our community in Adare.

SCOIL NAOMH IOSAF QUIZ: Scoil Naomh Iosaf, Adare Boys National School will hold their annual Fun Pub Quiz at Pat Collins’ Bar, Adare on Friday February 8 commencing at 8.30pm. All are welcome to come along for a great night out. Teams will consist of four people, but if you haven’t a team come along anyway and we’ll help you recruit team members. Your support will be greatly appreciated.

SHOUNTRADE N.S ENROLMENT WEEK: Shountrade N.S. is now enrolling Junior Infants for September 2013. Open Night is on Monday, February 11 at 7pm. All welcome.

ITALIAN COOKERY CAMP AT ADARE HERITAGE CENTRE: An Italian Cookery Camp, designed especially for Bambini with Favourite Italian Recipes will take place over half term at the Adare Heritage Centre. Lunch will be provided for Little Chefs and an Information and Recipe Pack is also included. It will be held on the 14 & 15 February from 10am – 1pm. Suitable for Boys & Girls 8 to 12 years, the cost is €20 per Child/ per Day. Spaces are limited so book early to avoid disappointment. Closing date and prepayment by Wednesday February 6. DRAMA IN THE VILLAGE HALL: The Feohanagh/Castlemahon Players present the hilarious comedy ‘A Wake In The West’ in the Village Hall on Friday February 15 at 8pm sharp. Tickets are €10 and available from all hall committee members.

ADARE ACTIVE RETIREMENT: Bowling continues every Tuesday at 3pm at Embury Close Hall. There will be bingo on February14 at 7.30pm and on February 21 James McGinley from JMG Travel will give a talk on Tours and will also be giving details of his Cruise departing Dublin in September at 7.30pm in Embury Close Hall. Everyone welcome to attend.

ASKEATON POINT TO POINT: The Askeaton Point to Point will be held this Sunday February 10 with the first race at 1pm. A great family day out.

MEETING RE PROPOSED CHANGES TO WEST LIMERICK RESOURCES: West Limerick Resources is holding a series of public meetings to highlight the potential impact of recent proposed changes by the government which could put the future existence of the local and community development company into question. The independent not for profit company is asking all members of the local community to attend one of its upcoming meetings to find out more and support its efforts to have the community’s voice heard in discussions on how these proposals are to be implemented. Meetings are scheduled to take place in the Glorach Theatre Abbeyfeale on February 7 and Rathkeale Community Centre on February 11. Both commence at 7.30pm. A final meeting will take place in the Desmond Complex Newcastle West at 8pm on February 13. All are welcome.

MASS READERS, EUCHARISTIC MINISTERS AND ALTAR SERVERS: The Mass Readers for this weekend are Saturday, 7.00 Helen Gleeson, Sunday, 9.30 Seamus Toomey and 11.30 Francesca Mawell. The Eucharistic Ministers are Saturday, 7.00 Jim Gallivan and Helen Gleeson, Sunday, 9. Carmel Collins and 11.30 Siobhan O’Connell and Mary Ryan. The altar servers are Team E on Saturday and Team C on Sunday at 11.30.

ADARE PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP: Adare Mother and Toddler Group is held in the upstairs room in the Heritage Centre. They meet at 10.15 until 12.15. They would like to issue a special invitation to all parents of children from 0-5 to come and join us on Friday mornings especially Dads, childminders and grandparents minding children in the afore mentioned age group. If you are expecting your first baby and would like some advice and a chat please do come along. The cost is €3 per family and includes tea, coffee, biscuits and treats for the toddlers! LIMERICK COUNTY AA MEETINGS: There is a closed meeting of Alcoholics Anonymous (A.A) in the C.B.S National School, Rathkeale Rd, Adare every Sunday night at 8:30 for anyone who might think they have a problem with alcohol or who need help to stop drinking. PARISH WEBSITE: www.adareparish.ie has news of the parish, schools, marriage information, etc. It is a very comprehensive website with a lot of local parish information. There will also be a virtual tour of the church upon completion of the restoration project.

ADARE MARKET: Adare County Market is held every Saturday from 10am to 2pm in front of the Village Hall. There are a wide variety of artisan, homemade goods for sale which including Fresh Fruit and Vegetables, Home Baking, Handknits, Handmade Greeting Cards and Jewellery, Free Range Eggs, Homemade Jams (Seasonal), Handmade Crafts including an Alterations Service. We look forward to seeing you there. If you are interested in having a stall at the market please contact Hugh Doherty at the fresh Fruit and Vegetable stall where he will give you an application form.
