Recent Death: The death has occurred peacefully at his residence, Thorndale, Ballinulty, of Aidan Long. The youngest member of the family of the late Tom and Theresa Long, Aidan was a popular member of the local farming community. He was also interested in sport, particularly tennis, which he played with the Lattin club and in rugby with Galbally. There was a large attendance of mourners on both days at his home and in the Church of the Assumption, Lattin, where Requiem Mass was celebrated. Burial took place in Shronell cemetery. He is survived by his wife Alex, children Amy, Alison, and Darragh, his brother James, sister Noreen, mother-in-law, uncle, aunts, brothers-in-law, sisters-in-law, nephews, nieces, relatives and very close friends.

Irish Night:There will be an Irish night-rambling house in the Honey Fitz, Lough Gur on this Thursday night, February 7, at 8:15 p.m. sharp. As usual, this is an open house with no charge, just a great night of old style traditional entertainment. Teas will be served, so come along and bring a friend.

Soccer: The Junior A Team were defeated away to Moyglass in a Division 1 game last Sunday. The final score was 2 -1. Next Sunday the team is away to Two-Mile-Borris in the Shield semi-final. The B Team is also away to Cahir side St Kierans. In underage football, St Davids U.11s will travel to Castle United for a 12.30 kick-off on Saturday; the U.13s will host Kilmallock in the Cup at 11am and the U.15s will play Murroe at 12.30 pm.
