FIRST HOLY COMMUNION CHILDREN AND PARENTS: Last Monday and Tuesday 30 September and October 1 we had a very attendance at the first of our preparatory meetings for the parents who wish to have their child celebrate First Penance and first Holy communion this school year. The enrolment ceremony for these children will be on this Monday 7 October at 7.30p.m. in St. Nicholas’ Church.
FOR 16 – 20 YEAR OLDS: There will be a huge gathering for all young people aged 16—20years in the Greenhills Hotel on Saturday 12 October. 1.30—5pm.
This is organised by the Thomond Cluster which comprises of the following parishes:
St. Nicholas, Parteen / Meelick, Our Lady of the Rosary, Caherdavin, Cratloe, St. Munchin’s, Corpus Christi and St. Mary’s. We expect a huge turn out for this gathering in FAITH AND FRIENDSHIP.
It will be led by Elation Ministries—a group of young people who travel the country spreading the Good news of the Gospel through sharing their stories, lots of music and fun. Refreshments will be provided. As we need to know numbers it is important that those attending give their name to their school Chaplain, or Fr. Derek or Sr. Dympna. Look forward to a GREAT event just for you!
BAPTISM PREPARATION: Meeting for parents who wish their baby to be baptised in the coming weeks this Thursday 3 October at 7.30p.m.
Please note that the monthly preparation meeting will now be on the Thursday before the first Sunday of the month.

PARISH VISITATION: This is currently taking place in Carraig Midhe and parts of Westbury and Athlunkard not visited in April.
MILFORD CHARITY SHOP: Milford Care Centre have opened a Charity Shop at 22 Thomas Street. They are looking for women’s, men’s and children’s clothes, shoes, accessories, handbags and unwanted gifts, bric-a-brac etc. Contct Aeilish on 0868366846 from 9.30 – 5p.m. Monday to Saturday.

TUESDAY SOCIAL CLUB: The Alzheimer Society of Ireland hold a Social Club for people with dementia and their carer, in a supported environment, which takes place each Tuesday morning in the Woodfield House Hotel, between 11.00 a.m. and 1.00 p.m. There is no charge to attend and tea and coffee are provided. VOLUNTEERING WITH VIDES Ireland: If any person between 20 and 40 years of age would like to experience life on the Missions for at least six weeks during 2014 please contact Sr. Dympna (061 348510) who co-ordinates VIDES Ireland—an NGO developed by the Salesian Sisters to offer young people an opportunity to experience life in a Third World country. A mission in Assam, India would love Volunteers from February onwards.

CLARE’S HURLING TEAMS LAUDED: Congratulations to the Clare Senior and Under 21 Hurling teams. The All-Ireland winning Clare Senior and Under 21 Hurlers arrived home to a hero’s welcome in Ennis last night, cheered on by crowds of 30,000 people. Thousands more turned out to greet the victorious teams and the Liam McCarthy Cup along the way with huge celebrations in Cratloe, Sixmilebridge, Newmarket-on-Fergus and Clarecastle. The Fans cheered, sang and danced along with the winning teams, and expressed their hope that the boost experienced in the county throughout the past few weeks will continue. All well deserved. Up the Banner every time.
