NEWS LETTER: Now that the children are back to school again, the parish newsletter went to print and was available at the entrance door of the church at the weekend masses. Well done to the young students for bringing the news of the school to the people of the parish.

CASTLE OLIVER: The house tours of Castle Oliver concluded on last Sunday, big crowds again attended on both Saturday and Sunday, people were delighted to get the opportunity to view the inside of this magnificent building.

MILFORD HOSPICE: The coffee evening and morning organised by the local Ladies Club took place over the past weekend in the Community Centre. The amount donated was €422, thanks to all.

ANNIVERSARY MASS: A mass for the second anniversary of the death of Fr. Browne will be celebrated in the parish church on Wednesday October 16th at 7 pm.

HURLERS LOSE: Blackrock intermediate hurlers are out of the championship for this year, they were beaten by Dromin Athlacca in Bruff on Sunday afternoon last, 2 points separated the teams at full time.

BEREAVEMENT: It is with deep regret that people heard of the passing of Paddy O Grady of Ballyvodane, Ardpatrick. He died at St Ita’s Hospital Newcastlewest on September 25th. The Late Paddy was in poor health over recent years, he was aged 77 years.

A total gentleman he endeared himself to all who knew him, a man of the land, an outstanding hurler with his native Kilmallock for many years.

Very big crowds attended both his reposal at his residence and requiem mass and burial. His remains were laid to rest in Ballingaddy cemetery on Saturday September 28th. The chief celebrant at the mass was family friend, John Fleming Bishop of Killala.

Sympathy is extended to his wife Rita, brothers Jimmy and Charlie, sister mrs Peggy Murnane, relatives and friends, may he rest in peace.
