BALLYGIBLIN HURLERS NARROWLY BEATEN: Ballygiblin Junior hurlers lost out to Newtownshandrum in the Premier JHC quarter final at Castletownroche on Saturday evening. Newtown had a very experienced side and in the end were that bit more crafty getting some vital scores that proved decisive in the end. Ballygiblin also did well but lacked the overall balance and teamwork. Newtown led 1-8 to 0- 9 at half time and were 2-16 to 1-14 winners in the end. Ballygiblin scorers Joe O’Sullivan 1-6 (1-3f) Shane Beston 0-3, Shane Cahill 0-2, Cathal Murphy 0-1f, Greg Carroll 0-1, Michael Walsh 0-1.

WIN FOR HARBOUR ROVERS: On Sunday Harbour Rovers (Glanworth) had an 8 point win over Clyda Rovers in the Premier JHC quarter final at Killavullen. Last years finalists Harbour Rovers with a great late rally emerged winners by 1 -15 to 1-7 after leading 1-6 to 0- 6 at half time. The Glanworth side now meet Newtownshandrum in the semi final.

Their scorers were Thomas Condon 0-6 (0-5f) Brian Gallagher 0-4, Padraigh Hannon 1-0f, Sean Finn, Timmy Rice, Denis Gallagher, Alex Sheehan, Martin Roche 0-1 each.

ARAGLIN INTO CO JBFC SEMI FINAL: Araglin Junior B footballers had a very easy win over Ballyhooly in the Co JBFC quarter final replay at Glanworth on Sunday. The winners gained control fro an early stage and the outcome was never in doubt. They led 2- 6 to 1-1 at half time and added another goal and seven points in the second half. Final score 3 - 13 to 1- 4. They now face either Charleville or Goleen in the semi final.

Scorers for Araglin : James Kearney 0-11 (0-6f) Brendan Allen 1-1, Cain O’Mahony, Vincent O’Donoghue 1-0 each. Seamie O’Gorman 0-1.

THE LATE WILLIAM COUGHLAN: The death occurred on July 13 at St Patrick’s Community Hospital Fermoy of William (Billy) Coughlan Leabbamologga Knockanevin Mitchelstown. The late Billy was very popular member of the farming community and was very well known over a wide area. He had been in ill health for a while leading up to his death. His popularity was borne out in the very large and represented attendance at the removal on Tuesday Night from O’Brien’s Funeral Home

Mitchelstown to Shraherla Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Wednesday. Interment took place to Brigown New Cemetery Mitchelstown. To his wife Margaret (Nee Fraher) sons Richard, John, daughters Mairead, Mary (Hurley) daughter in law Marian, son in law John, grandchildren Eoin, Emma, Kieran, Darren, Conor & Laura, brothers Paddy, Arthur and Tommy, sisters Kathleen (Rea) Mary (Flynn) and Sr Therese Agnes (Bridie) brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
