CROOM jockey Brian Toomey who was seriously injured in a fall in Scotland earlier this month continues to make progress, according to his mother, Marian.

Speaking to the Injured Jockeys Fund this week, Marian Toomey said that Brian remains in the high dependency unit at Ninewells Hospital, Dundee.

“Brian is able to move all four limbs and is no longer reliant on a respirator but his breathing is being assisted by a tracheotomy,” said Marian. “Although no longer in a coma he does get very tired and needs lots of rest. At this time we therefore ask that his visitors are restricted to close family only.” Brian’s family and girlfriend, Amy Ryan, would once again like to thank everyone for their continued support and all the cards and messages they have received.

The statement was issued by the Injured Jockeys Fund on behalf of the Toomey family and The Professional Jockeys Association.
