Village Park Committee: The Village Park committee are holding a Table Quiz on this Friday night May 17th in An Trasnan at 9pm sharp. Tables of 4 cost €40 per table. Raffle on the night, your support would be greatly appreciated. Calling all sporting clubs, committees, pubs and businesses in the area to enter a team on the night, your support is vital to help pay off the remaining debt on the Park which is used by all in the area. There was a very moderate response to the Conquer Cancer church gate collection at the masses over the weekend. A special word of thanks to those of you who contributed.
The envelope collection for the repairs of the church taken up at the masses is being well supported; Fr. Breen PP expressed his thanks to the many parishioners who contribute to such a worthy cause.
First Communion: The weather was rather unfavourable to the fourteen children from Ballylanders & Knockadea schools who received their first Holy Communion at last Saturday mass. The mass was celebrated by Fr. Tom Breen PP. The choir gave a rendering of hymns suitable for the occasion. A special word of thanks to the respective teachers from both schools in preparing the young boys and girls for the special occasion. During the past couple of months at the masses on Sunday morning they were very well prepared and instructed by Fr. Breen PP. on the solemnity of the sacrament and of the importance of being present at the celebration of the mass.
Exam time: A special meeting will be held in Glenbrohane Hall on Tuesday may 21st next on how to manage examtime in the home, time 8-10pm. Speakers include Gerry Rafferty and Maureen McDermot from “Personal Milestones” Ballylanders. It is for parents only and such an important meeting must not be missed, entry fee is voluntary.
