Knock: The local Active Retirement Club enjoyed a three day visit to Knock recently. We left Ballyagran on Sunday morning at 9.00am. Our first stop was at ‘Mother Hubbards’ for breakfast. We arrived at the hotel early afternoon, had tea and coffee and went to ‘The Basilica’ for mass and blessing of the sick. Back in the hotel at 5.30pm, the group had plenty of time to relax before dinner. Later everyone moved to the lounge and some went into the ballroom to listen to the dance music. The dance floor was packed, not much room for dancing. After 11.00am mass on Monday, some members viewed the Statue of St.Therese of Lisieux, while the rest of us went to Westport and climbed part of the route of Croagh Patrick, an interesting experience for those who ventured on the climb. We also visited ‘Croagh Patrick Museum’ and had lunch there. On Tuesday, we were taken on a cruise of the Corrib. It was very enjoyable and the rain stayed away. Later, when we returned to the hotel, some of the group visited ‘Knock Airport’, where some pictures were taken of the newly unveiled Statue of Monseigneur Horan, and returned to the hotel for dinner. Wednesday, at 10.00am, we hit the road for home, called to Mother Hubbards for lunch and arrived in Ballyagran around 3.00pm. Thanks to Joan Galvin, who did a great job in booking the hotel and to our two great and friendly drivers, Pat and Timmie. Our next trip is to Dublin (June 23rd-28th).
