In what was a very fitting ceremony, in which all the Holy Communion class participated in all aspects of the Mass attended by a very big congregation. To all involved in making the ceremony a very special occasion, the parents and class teacher Miss Anne Marie Ryan, and staff at Scoil Fhionain, the class which was in fact the first, First Holy Communion Class from Scoil Fhionain which opened last September, Sr. Patricia who once again had the Church decorated so well, Sacristan, Kathleen O’Sullivan, the School choir with pupils from Third, Fourth, Fifth and Sixth Classes under the guidance of Ms Dalton and Ms O’Connell, and Band under Joan Slattery, Fr. Hanley PP and of course the children, Thanks to one and all, hopefully it will be a day to remember for the rest of the lives of the children. Over the past One Hundred and Twenty Nine years many, young children have received the First Holy Communion in the St Andrew’s Church and the class of 2013 have been included in the historic annuals of the Church. To mark the occasion the Children with family and friends were invited to Scoil Fhionain after Mass for light refreshments which was a very nice and welcome gesture by the Board of Management and Parents Committee which indeed added to the occasion for all involved.
