NICKER NATIONAL SCHOOL EXTENSION: Work on the school extension has commenced last Wednesday 15th May. The Board of Management, the staff and pupils and the Parents Association thank the trustees of the Community Centre for facilitating the school while the work takes place. Please note that the Community Centre is open for business as usual and the use of the premises by the school will not in any way effect meetings, bingo etc.

CHURCH RENOVATION DRAW: The first draw takes place this Friday night in the Old Credit Room at 8pm in the Community Centre. All are welcome.

O’DWYER’S BAR GOLF SOCIETY: The next outing of the Society will take place this Saturday May 18th in Thurles Golf Club. Tee time is reserved from 9.30pm to 10 .30am. For timesheet you can contact the Bar 384295 or Tom O’Dea 087-9220906

GARRYDOOLIS NS PARENTS ASSOCIATION: Garrydoolis NSPA are holding a clothing/textile collection of any clean clothes, bedlinen, towels. Also shoes. Belts, bags and soft toys. No household bric a brac please. It takes place this Friday May 17th , 3pm drop off outside Garrydoolis NS.

FUNDRAISER FOR PIETA HOUSE: Sunday 19th May Fashion and Frolics in aid of Pieta House at Limerick Racecourse. National Hunt Racing from 2.35pm with the feature race being The Supermac’s EBF Mares Novice Chase.
Join us for a wonderful day of fashion and racing to support the wonderful organisation that is Pieta House in our Panoramic restaurant.  On the day there shall be a fashion show presented by Limerick’s Fashion Quarter with Ladies and Gents Summer Fashion 2013.

Knockane GAA Lotto: No winner Mon Night May 6th Draw. Numbers drawn were; 3.9.23.27. Lucky Dip winners; Mike O’Donoghue, Brid Fitzgerald, Mike Gleeson, Denny Ahern. Sellers Prize; Simon Ryan.

GAA NEWS: Road Hurling tournament.; On Monday last in almost perfect weather, we had twenty teams compete in the second annual Pallasgreen road hurling tournament, from Old Pallas, through Nicker down to the field in Pallasgreen. A tight contest was enjoyed by all, and with the teams coming home in pairs everybody was waiting to see who would manage the course in the fewest pucks.

The competition was won by a young team comprising of Shane Murphy, Colin Ryan (M) and Brian McCarthy who managed the course in an amazing 26 shots. Congratulations to the boys and all the teams who took part. A special thanks goes to all the club members who participated as course stewards, without their effort the tournament wouldn’t be possible.

Pallasgreen Bingo: Pallasgreen GAA Bingo is held every Wednesday in Pallasgreen Community Centre at 8.30pm. Please support by coming along and taking part.

Club Fixtures:O n Sunday Pallasgreen played Monaleen in the Intermediate Hurling Championship 1st round, in very wet and windy conditions in Caherline. A hard fought and closely contested match saw Monaleen win with a late point by a score of ten points to 1-7. Scorers were: Colin Ryan (M) 0-7 (6 frees, 1 65), Aidan Shanahan 1-0.

Juvenile Club news: The new season’s training and matches are well under way. New members are always welcome. Hurling Training for U6, U8 & U10 every Wednesday evening at 6.30pm. Football Training for U6, U8 & U10 every Sunday morning at 11am. For information on training for U12, U14, U16 contact 087-2755690.

Sponsored Walk: Our fourth annual club sponsored walk will take place on Sunday the 19th May at 2pm from the field. This will be followed by refreshments and skills/games for all players. Sponsorship cards available at the various training sessions.
