CHURCH NEWS: Minister of the Word for Saturday March 9 is Ann McMahon and Michael Keane for Sunday March 10.

The Eucharistic Ministers are Anne McMahon and Mairead Lynch for Saturday and Michael Keane and Eilís Griffin for Sunday.

Choir practice continues each Wednesday evening at 8.30pm in preparation for Easter.

Diocesan Lourdes Pilgrimage 2013; The Lourdes Office is now open in the Social Service Centre, Henry St., Limerick Tel 061-314111. The fares for this year are as follows: pilgrims €699 and for an Invalid €599 this is inclusive of travel insurance. Invalid forms are available from the Lourdes Office.

COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT COMMITTEE: The Committee held a launch and information meeting in the Community Centre on Monday evening. There was a large attendance to hear members of the Committee outline of the progress of the new Astra Turf project. Detailed information on the site clearing and construction as well as a comprehensive explanation of the finances involved. The launch was very well received and the Committee are to be complimented on the presentation.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY: The next meeting of the Rathkeale and District Historical Society will take place at 8.30pm on Friday 8th March at the Community Arts Centre Rathkeale. The topic for discussion and the speaker is: “Localised place names (English and Irish) in West Limerick,” by Dr. Gerard Curtin.

THE WITNESS: The musical about the life, death and resurrection of Christ, as told through the eyes of St. Peter – The Witness – is taking place next Friday and Saturday 8th and 9th March in the Limetree Theatre, produced by Fr. Terry Loughran. This show is being presented by over fifty young people from across the Diocese, including some from Cappagh and Kilcornan. For those travelling on the bus on Saturday 9th, a reminder that it will be leaving Cappagh at 6.30 pm and Kilcornan at 7 pm. If you have not given your name in yet, please do so at the Sacristy, so that we can confirm numbers.

GOLF SOCIETY: The A.G.M. of Curraghchase Golfing Society was held recently and the following officers and committee were elected.

Captain Brian Collins has put together an impressive list of courses for the year’s golf with the itinerary for the year as follows:

March 23 - Portumna. April 27 - Ballykisteen. June 8 - Adare Manor. July 27 - Galway Bay. August 24 - Newcastle West (Captain’s Prize). October 12 - The Heritage.

November 23 - Adare Manor Hotel.

With the annual subscription set at €50 and a daily green fee of €30 this represents a great opportunity to sample some excellent golf courses playing with a fun and friendly Society. Any new members interested in joining should contact the Captain, Secretary or any committee member and the Society look forward to welcoming all members new and old to the Captain’s drive in at Portumna Golf Club.

BROTHERS OF CHARITY: A night at the Dogs Fundraising Event in aid of the Brothers of Charity, Bawnmore will be held in Limerick Greyhound Stadium on Saturday March 16. While the Stadium has become Limerick’s best night time entertainment venues, it also offers the opportunity to raise much needed funds for this worthy cause. The organising committee is selling the admission tickets in advance which offers greater benefit to the fundraising for Bawnmore Services.
