CLOTHING BANK: A Clothing Bank is now available in Galvone NS school car park to help with fundraising for the school. It is suitable for used/ unwanted clothes, shoes, belts and bags. It will be available to the community during school hours.

Early Start classes: Children must be between 3years and 2 months and 4years and 6 months to enroll in this free class.

Junior Infants: Children must be over 4years of age on September 1 to enroll in junior infants.

OUR LADY QUEEN OF PEACE CHOIR: On Saturday March 2, Our Lady Queen of Peace Church Choir under their organist and director Dr Susan Frawley took part and won the Church Choir Competition during the Limerick Church Choral Festival 2013. They sang two pieces, ‘ Softly and Tenderly’ by Will Thompson and ‘Cantate Domino’ by Hans Leo Hassler. The competition was held in the most beautiful and sacred surroundings of the Augustinian Church. It was a great achievement for the choir having previously won the Best Limerick Choir in 2011. The choir received a beautiful cup and a prize of €300 which was kindly sponsored by RTE Lyric FM. This event is a wonderful event in our city with choirs coming from all over the country. On Sunday morning, the choir sang again their two winning pieces and received big congratulations from Fr Pat O Sullivan and fellow parishioners.

CHIROPODY: I have been asked many times about the availability of chiropody in our community.

I have made enquiries and sourced Bridget O Callaghan who will provide the service in her rooms in Cecil Street to older people with a medical card for €10. People need to register first with Carebright (formally known as RCCN) at 061-383644

TIDY TOWNS: As Spring has now arrived the Tidy Towns/Going for Gold committee will soon be knocking on your doors looking for commitment from residents to help out for the coming months with planting and maintaining the area. They are a small crew as people are probably aware and will be unable to cater for all areas. They need residents to roll up their sleeves and muck in as it is their community too. There are continuously looking for new members so if interested phone 0894667651. They meet the first Tuesday of every month in the Spotted Dog pub at 5pm. You can also Facebook them at Janesboro Tidy Towns. There you will find lots of pictures of them in action.

CARE & REPAIR: A team of volunteers who do home repair jobs free of charge for older people and people with disabilities in Queen of Peace are to extend their services. John Keane said they will be expanding to cover Southill/ Carew/ Kincora areas.

APOSTOLATE FOR PERPETUAL EUCHARISTIC ADORATION: To celebrate the Year of Faith there will be the annual pilgrimage to Knock on Saturday April 20. All are invited to come and pray at one of the world’s greatest Eucharistic Shrines. The holy Sacrifice of the Mass will be celebrated by The Apostolic Nuncio, Archbishop Charles Brown.

LEGION OF MARY: The Legion of Mary, Rosa Mystica Presidium has been active in the parish for 58 years. 6 members visit the housebound, those in nursing homes and St Camillus Hospital. They could do with some more members and volunteers. Call to the Resource Centre any Tuesday night between 7-8pm.

TOASTMASTERS: Limerick Toastmasters will meet on Monday March 11 at 7.45pm in the Savoy Hotel, Henry Street.

Thomond Toastmasters made Mayor of Limerick Gerry Mc Loughlin an honorary member at a cheese and wine reception on their open night and he delivered an awe inspiring speech. They next meet on Thursday March 14 at 7.45pm in the Castletroy Park Hotel. All welcome to practice their Communication and Leadership skills in a positive friendly environment.

LIMERICK GEORGIAN SOCIETY: The Limerick Chapter of the Irish Georgian Society are delighted to announce that the March lecture will be given by Dr. Hugh Maguire, director of the The Hunt Museum on the topic of “ The Hunt Museum- Looking to the future”. The lecture will take place at No 1 Pery Square at 8pm.

The final lecture in the spring series will be given by Alicia St Leger on “The Hugenots” - this will take place on Tuesday April 9 at 8pm in the same venue .
