SPONSORED WALK: On Sunday last a huge crowd took part in the Galtee Gaels G.A.A Club na n-Og Annual Sponsored Walk in Combaun Wood. The walk was led by Aiden Maunsell, a very experienced walker. After the walk all returned to Anglesboro National School Hall, where medals were presented to the Under 14 County Shield Winners. The presentation was done by Limerick County Senior Hurler Paul Browne. The Club also presented winning Manager Aidan Maunsell and his Selectors Patrick Cronin and John McGrath with mementos of the occasion. The Galtee Gaels Ladies Football Club also presented medals to their u-12 County Shield winners Paul Browne also presented these medals. Ollie Coffey County Coaching Officer then presented Parish League Medals to the winners of the various competitions. Both guests were loud in their praises for the great work being done for the young people of the parish. A raffle was held for the sponsored cards. 1st prize was a signed Limerick Senior Hurling Jersey; it was won by Padraig Cronin of Barnagurrahy. 2nd prize was a Galtee Gaels Glor Bag and it was won by Norma Quane of Lackendarra. The parish league is now funning twenty seven years and many children have now won medals that their parents also won.

R.I.P: It was with great sadness that people learned of the recent passing of R.T.E sports commentator Sean Og O’Ceallachain. It struck a chord particularly with the older generations who recalled the waiting every Sunday night for this sports results programme, where we learned the names and places of G.A.A Clubs around the country. As well as the results Sean’s programme was an educational one. Ar deis Lamh De go raibh a h-anam usal.
