SPRING CONCERT: A Spring Variety Concert in aid of St. Tola’s National School will take place in the Oakwood Arms Hotel on Thursday March 7 at 7.30p.m. The concert will showcase music and dance talent from the Shannon area. Tickets cost €10 and will be available on the night at the Oakwood Hotel. Great night!

SOCCER: Coming to the Shannon leisure centre is Austin Speight former coach with Blackburn Rovers, West Ham United and Manchester City to deliver a coach development clinic. On Saturday March 9 from 2pm to 5pm, costing €25. All players and coaches welcome!

CERTIFICATES: On Friday last as part of Aontas Adult Learning Week a Presentation of FETAC Certificates took place in the Library. The Presentations were to successful candidates from various courses in FETAC programmes. They include Employability skills based courses, improving career and employment prospects, to developing hobby or interest based courses; digital media, photography, childcare, horticulture, drama, art and crafts. All courses were taken at Community and Adults Education Centre at 4 Bru na Sionna, Shannon.

PAKIE RYAN: The 4th annual Pakie Ryan Memorial Run will take place on Saturday March 23 in Newmarket on Fergus. This event is open to walkers, runners and also cyclists, various different distances are available. Entry costs €20, students €10 and children are free. MONTHS MIND: The months mind mass for Jim Nicholl, late of Tullyglass Crescent and Lana Knit will be held on this Saturday at 12 noon.

CONFIRMATION: The Preparation mass for St. Aidan’s School takes place at the 10am mass on Sunday.

HELP NEED: At all masses next weekend, parishioners will be invited to participate in some aspect of Parish life. It’s ten years since the last appeal. It is your Parish – please take an active part in some aspect of Parish life with your time or talents.

RUN: The Wolfe Tones Camogie Club annual event in memory of the late Breege Keane will take place this year on Sunday April 14. This is 5/10K Walk/run suitable for everyone. To enter please register on runireland.ie or on the day in Wolfe Tones Club from 10.30am.

LEGAL CLINIC: The next free legal advice clinic will be held on Monday March 26 at the community Office, Unit 1, Business Centre near the Library. Please attaned at 5.15pm to ensure being seen by a solicitor. No appointment is necessary.

FUN BASKETBALL: On Sunday afternoons in the Leisure Centre a session of basketball for male and female players, all are welcome – former players and new players. Phone Anthony on 087 6563641.

COMMUNITY GAMES: On Tuesday night at 7.00 pm the Community Games Awards Presentation will be held in Sean Lemass Public Library. Winners of the Shannon Area Community Games Art and Modelling recent competitions will be presented with their medals. Their winning art entries will displayed in the Library from March 12 to 31.

WORKSHOP: Following on from Seachtain na Gaeilge established author and promoter of the Irish langue, Re Ó Laighleis will visit the library on Friday March 15 at 11am and will conduct a bilingual creative writing workshop with secondary school pupils.
