40th Anniversary Bingo: To celebrate 40 years of very successful Bingo sessions in Cappamore we are holding a Bingo Special on Sunday 20 th. October 2013 in Community Centre at 3.00p.m. This is one of the best and most consistent Bingo sessions in Munster with Top-class prize money every week. The Total Prize money for the year 2012 was €150,290.00

Dancing News: A group of twenty local dancers will appear on “An Jig Gig” TG4 on Sunday October 13 at 7.15pm dancing a combination of Sean Nós/Brush Dancing.

Well done to Cian O Flynn who appeared on last week’s programme . Cian and his partner were very unlucky to miss out on qualification to the next round on a split decision.

Comhrá: A small group of people with an interest in the Irish language came together before the Summer to converse with whatever bit of Irish they had for one hour a week. People in the group are at all different levels and are each learning from one another. The group is resuming on Tuesday night at 7pm in the Community House, Mullally Lawn, Cappamore. All are welcome to join in and enjoy the comhrá

Cappamore Camogie Club: Congratulations to our U -12 team which had a great victory over Granagh/Ballingarry on Thursday night last in Crecora in the U-12 Shield. They played with great determination and came out worthy winners by 2 points. Our Junior team beat Patrickswell on Sunday evening in Mungret by a very impressive scoreline. In doing so they have qualified for a Junior County Final. Our best wishes go out to them for the final which is scheduled for Sunday 13th October. They will play Crecora in the final. Our fundraising continues with another clothes collection on Saturday October 12from 3.00 to 4.00 p.m. at the Community Centre. Any unwanted clothes, shoes and bedlinen would be greatly appreciated. We also have the sale of the Bilboa Lotto tickets for the month of October. Recent Coffee Morning: At a recent Coffee morning hosted by Kathleen O’Dwyer in O ‘Dwyer’s Bar, the total amount raised in aid of Milford Hospice was €4,892.81. This event was in conjunction with “Ireland’s Biggest Coffee Morning” and is held annually to help raise funds for hospice care services. The funds from this particular event will go towards patient comfort and care services at Milford Care Centre.

St. Michael’s Daycare Centre: Activities at the Daycare Centre are back in full swing again and there are still places there for clients who may wish to avail of the services. It is a fun day out. We would like to see more attend on Wednesdays. The bus collects in the Doon area on that day but everyone is welcome to come on that day provided you have transport.

Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann: The AGM of Murroe/Cappamore Comhaltas will take place on Monday 14th October in th.e Community Centre, Cappamore at 8.00p.m.

All those in the area interested in the promotion of Irish culture, music, song, dance and the Irish language are very welcome to attend. We would especially invite parents of the students attending classes currently to come along and get an update on past year’s activities and plans for coming year.

The annual church gate collection for the local Comhaltas branch will take place in Cappamore on the 12th & 13th October. Your support would be greatly appreciated. Comhaltas Classes have now resumed at Scoil Chaitríona each Tuesday evening from 6.00p.m. to 8.00p.m. Tuition given on all traditional instruments and singing. All enquiries to 061 381269

Scouting Ireland: An information night about the formation of a new Scout Group in Cappamore, Pallasgreen and surrounding areas will take place on Monday 14th October 2013 from 8.00p.m. to 9.00p.m.in the Community Centre, Cappamore. The meeting is for those who might be interested in assisting with the establishment of the Group as well as parents who would like their children to be involved in the fun, adventure and challenge of Scouting. We have an initial group of people in place to get things started, and they will explain on the night what is planned. Please note that this meeting is for adults only. Wellness Workshop: Understanding and taking care of your mental health. SOS – Suicide or Survive, in partnership with ICA Limerick are hosting a Wellness Workshop on Saturday 12th October 2013 in the Day Care Centre, Drombanna, Co. Limerick from 9.30a.m. to 5pm.

Recent Death: The death took place on 18th September of Paddy Coleman, 34 St. Michael’s Terrace. Paddy had been ill for some time but he had fought it with great determination and fortitude. He was just gone 85 years of age. He was a very genial person and great company to be with. He liked to read extensively and his conversation was always witty.

His son, Michael predeceased him and his sister, Bridget Smyth died earlier this year in England in her 90th year.

Paddy is survived by his wife, Anne his daughters, Moira, Eileen, Siobhán, son, Conor and his many relatives and friends. Following Requiem Mass in Cappamore church , the burial took place in Towerhill cemetery.
