ADARE SENIOR CAMOGIE: The Adare Senior Camogie Team have reached another County Final (their third in four years) with a great performance last Sunday against a fancied Galbally outfit. Having beaten Bruff in the 1/4 final by 2pts, we then beat Galbally 5-08 to 2-14 in the semi’s. We will now play Newcastlewest in the Senior B Final on Sunday 13 of October. These girls are also looking for sponsorship as they attempt to climb Mount Brandon in Kerry on Saturday 26 October, all funds raised will go to the running costs of our Club from U8s right up.

LIMERICK WEST GIY: Limerick West GIY, with the aim of inspiring people to grow their own food, is back indoors for the winter months as we return to D & M Garden Centre, Croagh on Thursday 17 October where the subject for discussion will be on Wild Foods along with all the usual topics. The meeting will start at 7.00pm sharp and all are welcome from the beginner to the experienced old hand. As with all GIY meetings there is no charge to join in.

MILFORD HOSPICE 5KM “WALK OF LIFE”: Milford Hospice 5Km “Walk Of Life” takes place on Saturday Oct 19 at 12 o’clock in 5 locations simultaneously, across County Limerick. The nearest location to Adare is in CurraghChase Forest Park in Kilcornan. This is an opportunity for young and old alike to show their appreciation for the fantastic work undertaken by Milford Hospice. This new initiative led by Martin Kiely has tapped into many of the local sports clubs to ensure that it will be a huge success and everyone is encouraged to make it along to Curraghchase for an enjoyable stroll in the forest park. Sponsorship cards have been distributed locally and donations can also be made on www.walkoflife.ie. ADARE HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Adare Historical Society begins the winter series of lectures on Tuesday 15 October at 8.30pm in Adare Heritage Centre. The title of our first lecture is “The medieval castles and tower houses of Limerick including the history of Adare Castle”. The speaker on the night will be Joseph Lennon. We welcome all members old and new!

ADARE PARENT AND TODDLER GROUP: The Adare Parent and Toddler group is held upstairs in the Heritage Centre every Friday at 10.15am. They meet at 10.15 until 12.15 to facilitate those who have to collect children from playschool. They would like to issue a special invitation to all parents of children from 0-5 to come and join us on Friday mornings especially Dads, childminders and grandparents minding children in this age group. If you are expecting your first baby and would like some advice and a chat please do come along. The cost is €3 per family and includes tea, coffee, biscuits and treats for the toddlers! WELLNESS WORKSHOP: The Limerick Federation of the ICA are holding a full day training session at the Day Care Centre, Drombanna on October 12 from 9.30 am to 5pm. Such sessions are being held countrywide by SOS, that is ‘Suicide or Survive’, aimed at promoting good mental health and combating negative and destructive psychological conditions.
