MURROE/BOHER HISTORICAL SOCIETY: Murroe/Boher Historical Society will hold its annual table quiz in the Valley Inn, Murroe, on Friday, October 18, beginning at 9 pm sharp. A table of four will cost €20-00 and there will be spot-prizes on the night. All are welcome.

COFFEE MORNING SUCCESSES: Denis and Margaret Holmes would like to thank everyone who supported their coffee morning for Milford Care Centre and to all those who helped out with baking cakes etc. The amount raised was €1,300 which was presented to Milford Hospice. Also, Mary Ryan’s Coffee Morning in Brittas realised a total of €600, also for Milford.

PLAYGROUND UPDATE: Some damage to the surface of the playground has appeared over the summer months. Repair works will be undertaken shortly on this. The Playground Committee would like to thank parents for their vigilance in ensuring that equipment is respected by all who use the playground. The Committee would also like to acknowledge the work of the Tidy Towns members in keeping the playground clean, along with the contribution of PJ Holmes in ensuring that the bin is regularly emptied. If anyone is interested in getting involved with the maintenance of the playground or with the work of the Committee, please contact Ciarán on 085-7257842.

BOHER COMMUNITY DEVELOPMENT ASSOCIATION: Boher community development association wishes to thank all who supported in every way, their very successful Table Quiz night. Over €1,200 was raised for their Community Centre. Sincere thanks to William and Margaret Hanly who hosted the event. A 45-card game takes place at Boher Community Centre, every Friday night at 8.30 pm and all are welcome to attend. The Christmas Market will be held in early December at Boher Community Centre and more details will follow later. Also, Boher Social will take place in early February, 2014.

FREE COMPUTER TRAINING: Eight hours of free computer training are available on a first come basis at Killaloe library, with times to be arranged according to people’s needs. Skype, digital photography, buying and searching online will be covered and much more. This is a government initiative under the Benefit IT Programme. MURROE A.F.C: Last weekend was a good one for results front for Murroe. The A team had a 5-0 win over Fairview with Liam Breen [2] Brian Quinn Philip Clancy and Evan Walsh scoring. Not to be outdone, the B’s beat Aisling Annacotty 1-0. [OG]. In the under-13’s premier, Murroe defeated Herbertstown 4-0 with Sean Quigley netting all 4. The under-12’s beat Cappamore 4-1 with Jay Ryan [2], Michael Ryan and Jamie Newton getting the goals. The under-11’s had a tough 2-1 victory over Cappamore with Jay Ryan and Brian O Keefe scoring. The under-14 girls rounded off a good week with a 7-0 win over Mungret, Aoife Kinsella, Karen Cunningham [2] Deirdre Crowe and Bethany Ranson scored a hat trick.

CAREERS FAIRS: Limerick Youth Service will be among the many exhibitors at the University of Limerick Career’s Fair, at the UL Arena, on this Thursday, October 10, from 12-16:00hrs.The event is an opportunity for students to learn about Youth Work and the many volunteering and work experience opportunities available with Limerick Youth Service. Youth Workers will be available to answer any queries that students may have about pursuing a career in the youth work sector. For those who cannot make the UL Careers Fair, they will be at the Limerick Volunteer Fair, on this coming Saturday, October 12, at Limerick City Hall from 13-17:00hrs to answer any queries you may have about Limerick Youth Service and Youth Work.

MURROE/CAPPAMORE COMHALTAS: The AGM of Murroe/Cappamore Comhaltas will take place on Monday, October 14, in the Community Centre, Cappamore at 8 p.m. All those in the area interested in the promotion of Irish culture, music, song , dance and Irish language are very welcome to attend. We would especially invite parents of the students attending classes currently to come along and get an update on past year’s activities and plans for coming year. The annual church gate collection for the local Comhaltas branch will take place in Cappamore on October 12 and 13 and your support would be greatly appreciated. Comhaltas Classes have now resumed at Scoil Chaitríona each Tuesday evening from 6.00 to 8.00 pm. Tuition is given on all traditional instruments and singing. All enquiries to 061 381269.
