BALLYGIBLIN HURLERS WIN FIRST EVER JBHC (2) TITLE: Ballygiblin Junior B (2) hurlers won their first ever title in that grade on Sunday in Castletownroche. They had a 1-12 to 0- 4 victory over Milford in a game where they led all through. At half time Ballygiblin held a 0-7 to 0-1 advantage. Dave Moher had the only goal in the 40th minute. On Monday night Ballygiblin Under 21 B hurlers were unlucky to lose out to Clyda Rovers in the Under 21 B HC semi final replay. It was a close game all through with Clyda holding a point lead on 8 occasions. In the end they advanced to the final by a 2 point margin 0-14 to 1- 9. NEW CHAPLIN: ON Wednesday last a new Chaplain was installed in Kingston College Mitchelstown. Rev Canon Thomas Sherlock from nearby Kildorrery was installed by Dr Paul Colton (Bishop of Cork & Ross) Sincere welcome is extended to Canon Thomas.
SPECIAL MASS: There will be a special Mass in Mitchelstown Parish Church this Thursday evening at 8pm. The Parish of Mitchelstown will be entrusted to Our Lady. Fr Thady Doyle (Curates Diary) will be the main celebrant. All are welcome.
COMMUNITY FORUM: Mitchelstown Community Forum are continuously working for social and economic improvement in Mitchelstown to enhance all our lives. They have
now raised almost €1 million in grants, donations, and loans (interest free) to purchase a building which will become Mitchelstown Community Enterprise
Centre, (known as ‘The Hub’. This project will help local people to set up businesses and create employment in the town and surrounding areas. The Forum are short €12,363 for the project and they are appealing for support.
They are looking for donations or loans (small, medium or large amounts)

KILDORRERY HURLERS THROUGH TO CO IHL FINAL: Kildorrery Intermediate hurlers had a good win over Fr. O’Neill’s on Sunday in the concluding game in the Co IHL at Ahavine. The final score was 5 -15 to 4 - 8. This win gives Kildorrery a place in the league final against Charleville. This final is listed for Buttevant this Saturday 4pm. THE LATE TOM ROCHE: he death occurred on October 3 of Tom Roche, Kildorrery Road Mitchelstown.
The late Tom was very well known in the Mitchelstown area having run the family Spar Supermarket Upper Cork St for many years died after an illness at the Mercy University Hospital Cork. He was deeply involved in local activities and was Treasurer of the Festival of the Galtees since trhe start back in the 70s up to the present time. There was a large and represented attendance at the removal from O’Brien’s Funeral Home to the Parish Church and also at the Requiem Mass and burial on Monday. Interment took place to Brigown New Cemetery. To his wife Ann, daughters Esther (Kenneally) Noreen, Anne, Mary B (O’Sullivan) sons in law Willie, Declan, grandchildren Aisling, and Ciara, sisters, brothers, brothers in law, sisters in law, nephews, nieces, relatives, neighbours and friends we tender our sincere sympathy.
