ANNUAL RETREAT: Tarbert Community Services Annual trip to Ardfert Retreat Centre will take place today Wednesday October 9, 2013. The bus leaves the Square at 12 noon and calls to Ballyheigue Grotto on route. Transport is provided free by Tarbert Community Services.

FLEADH CHEOIL: Congratulations to Neilus Mackessy of Ballydonoghue Comhaltas Ceoltóirí Éireann (CCE) who won the All Ireland Button Accordion (12-15) competition. His brother Darragh (banjo) and Roísín Kissane (fiddle) came 2nd in the All Ireland U12 Trio. The Mackessy brothers are grandsons of Con Mackessy of Tarmons West and Roísín Kissane is daughter of Elizabeth O’Sullivan of Chapel Street, Tarbert.
COFFEE MORNING: The Tarbert Bridewell will host a Coffee Morning in aid of Kerry Hospice from 10am to 5pm on Friday, October 18, 2013. Your support for this worthy cause would be greatly appreciated.
TIDY TOWNS: Tarbert Development Association Tidy Towns Committee will hold a meeting to review the 2013 adjudication report on Tuesday next. Discussions on planning the year ahead will also take place at this meeting. Everyone who wishes to become involved in the Tidy Towns programme and who feel that they can contribute to maintaining and advancing the successes of the past few years should come to the Community Centre on Tuesday next October 15 at 8 p.m. Everybody welcome.
AFTERNOON TEA DANCE: Afternoon tea dancing resumes at Fr. Casey’s, Abbeyfeale on Sunday, October 13 from 3 to 6pm with music by the Seamus Sheehy Band. Admission €5. Teas served. All welcome. This is a fundraiser for the Abbeyfeale Arts Assembly which is happening on the following weekend and is being run on a shoestring by a small committee of volunteers.
CONDOLENCES: Sympathy is extended to Danny and Tom Enright of Doonard Upper (and their extended families) on the recent death of their sister Margaret Buckley of Clounmacon, Listowel.
GAA LOTTO: There was no winner of last week’s lotto draw. The numbers drawn were; 9, 17, 18 and 25.
