MISSION: Sunday heralded the start of the Parish Mission and the Parish welcomed Fr. Chris O’Donnell, Director of Youth Ministry in the Limerick Diocese, who helped launch the Mission. Fr. Chris along with Shannon native Fr. Fergal O’Neill spoke at all the Pentecost Masses. The great attraction of the Mission stall continues to evoke memory of parishioners of Missions of the past. Parish volunteers are operating a stall at both churches.
The first day of the Parish Mission began at 7am when early Mass goers gathered in SS John & Paul Church for early Mass. Sr Briege McKenna and Fr Kevin Scallan CM led the Mission Mass and talk at the 10am Mass. The choir and musicians from St. Conaire’s School led the singing. The evening Mission was a reconciliation night when over 40 priests were present to hear Confessions. They came from Killaloe, Galway, Limerick & Cashel & Emly Dioceses as well as Franciscan and Redemptorist Priests to help in the hearing of the confessions. Again Sr Briege and Fr Kevin led the Liturgy and people came not just from Shannon but all over the country. The Mission concludes on Friday night.
