AUCTION OF PARISH HOUSE: The auction of the parish house in Moymore takes place on Wednesday 29th May at 3.30pm in the Community Centre. All enquiries to our auctioneers Helen McCormack, 51 Upper William Street, Limerick 061446066 or Matthew Ryan, Bank Place, Tipperary Town 06251211.

SYMPATHY: The townsland of Knockgreana and surrounding area was all the poorer following the passing of Patrick (Pah) Nihill at his home last weekend. Pah well known in the construction industry was one of the community’s best known residents. His funeral was from Meehan’s funeral home Cappamore to Nicker Church. Following requiem mass internment took place in Old Pallas cemetery. Sympathies are extended to his wife Joan, sons Noel and Patrick, daughter Mary, son-in-law Pat, grandsons Emmet and Iain, brothers and sisters, sister-in-law, brothers-in-law, nephews and nieces, neighbours, relatives and friends.

LOCAL ATHLETES: Two parish participants who were omitted from The Great Limerick Run Results are Una Ni Rian from Nicker and Patrick Hickey from Old Pallas. Patrick has earned many plaudits over the last year for his fantastic achievements on the track and received a great reception when he crossed the finish line.

The Mungret 10K was run on Sunday with Declan O’ Connor back where he has been for most of the season coming home in 16th position, first home from Pallas in a time of 38.There were a total of 695 runners. Second home came brother Denis in 36th position in 40.50 with James McMahon produced a personal best over the 10k course finishing in 47.30 ahead of Liam McMahon in 47.38. Details of The Eddie Murphy Memorial Run and The Paddy Ryan Memorial Run will be announced shortly.

HISTORICAL SOCIETY TRIP: Pallasgreen/Templebraden Historical Society is embarking on a trip to the wonderful Museum of Country Life in Castlebar, Co Mayo on Saturday June 8th. CHURCH RENOVATION DRAW: The first draw took place last Friday night in the Old Credit Room in the Community Centre. O’DWYER’S BAR GOLF SOCIETY: The Society latest outing took place in Thurles Golf Club last Saturday morning. Played in summer conditions the singles competition proved that score were well earned in the long woodland course. The result was a welcome return to form to former captain Mossy Kirby who took first prize with 34 points. Second and hot on his heels was Gerard Ryan with 33 points. The longest drive winner went to Trevor Cosgrave and nearest to the Pin went to Gerard Ryan. The next outing will be the highlight of the year The Captains Prize (Joe Heelan) in Tipperary Golf Club Sun June 9th at 10am.

Prize giving for Castletroy, Thurles and Nenagh outings will take place this Friday night May 24th at 10pm in the Bar.

MURROE-BOHER CAMOGIE CLUB: will be having a Disco in aid of the U14 Féíle team in Muintir na Tire Hall Murroe, from 8pm-10pm on Friday, 24th May. Admission €5. If aged between 10-16 come along and bring your friends. Spread the word to everyone, the more the merrier. Great night and music promised. On the following weekend, Sunday- 2nd June, we are holding a Coffee Morning in Boher Community Centre from 10.30am. We will have tea/coffee and a wide variety of cakes and buns, there will be something for everyone. Please pop in, have a chat and help raise funds for our Féile team.

GAA NEWS: Pallasgreen GAA Bingo is held every Wednesday in Pallasgreen Community Centre at 8.30pm. Please support by coming along and taking part.

On Sunday Pallasgreen played Ballybricken/Bohermore in the East Junior Hurling League. Despite being short of a number of players Pallasgreen got stuck in and played their hearts out on the night. Unfortunately the young age of some of our players and the extra energy of the Ballybricken substitutes told in the second half resulting in a three point victory for Ballybricken, by 11 points to eight. Scorers were: Ciaran Ryan (M) six points, Padraig Franklin and Raymond Roche a point each.

The new season’s training and matches are well under way. New members are always welcome. Hurling Training for U6, U8 & U10 every Wednesday evening at 6.30pm. Football Training for U6, U8 & U10 every Sunday morning at 11am. For information on training for U12, U14, U16 contact 087-2755690.

Our fourth annual club sponsored took place on Sunday the 19th May at 2pm from the field. Over 160 club members and their parents took part in the walk from Pallas to Old Pallas, Nicker and back to the field. Congratulations and thanks to all.

After the walk we all had an enjoyable afternoon with an obstacle course run, and a skills competition in the field and barbeque provided for all who took part.
