Askeaton GAA: To commemorate memorial day and the Gathering, Askeaton GAA are hoping to get the history of the club together, if you have any photos or documents that would be of benefit we would greatly appreciate being allowed to photocopy them for this venture.

PTAA: The annual Pioneer Pilgrimage to Our Lady’s Shrine in Knock will take place on June 16. Coach departs East Square at 8.20am. Fare is €45. Includes coach, morning and evening tea, lunch at St Mary’s Convent. Booking with fare to Breda Kelly on or before June 7.

Rosary: During the month of May, the Rosary will be recited every evening at 7.15 at the Shrine of St Mary’s Tce. Please join in this public devotion to Our Lady.

Book launch: Gerard Curtin’s book Askeaton The Medieval Town A Visitor’s Guide will be launched at Askeaton Tourist Office on May 31at 9pm by the Minister for Arts, Culture and the Gaeltacht Jimmy Deenihan. All are welcome.

Askeaton Swimming Club: Seven swimmers attended the Grade B gala held on Saturday 11th May in Ennis, County Clare.

William Cahill, Dean McCarthy, Colin Griffin, Lucy Relihan, Eve Higgins, Alice Hanley and Roisin Sheahan travelled to this afternoon gala, some competing for the 1st time at a Grade B.

All swimmers improved greatly on their previous times with William Cahill achieving his “A” times, reducing his 100m fly by over 22secs and also qualifying for Division 2 in this event. Colin Griffin qualified for Munster Age Groups in the 100m backcrawl and the 100m breaststroke.

Well done to all swimmers, parents and coaches.
