SOCIAL: Castletown-Ballyagran-Colmanswell Active Retired Club held their 10th anniversary on Tuesday last February 26 in the Community Centre, the day started with their usual game of bingo which included the following winners Betty Harrold, Peggie O’Connell, Kathleen Twomey and Kitty Sexton.

Tea was served by the local ladies and the birthday cake was cut by our first chairman Sonny Kenneally and everyone present got a slice of cake.

As the day wore on we had the raffle, winners included Pat Jo O’Gorman, Kitty Sexton, Nancy Hayes, Margaret O’Brien, Joan Cagney, Margaret Kelly, Garrinderk, K and M Cregg, Phil Slevin, PJ Vaughan, Sheila Carroll, Hanna Costello and Bridge Morrissey. The chairperson welcomed the large attendance, paid tribute to Joan Galvin who started the whole thing ten years ago and also to the founder officers. Sonny Kenneally presented Joan Galvin with a beautiful bouquet of flowers from the club. Joan also thanked everybody who turned up on the day and thanked them for their attendance in the past, and we hope to see them all in the years to come. Sonny Kenneally gave a detailed account of the places we had seen during the past year, music maestro Michael O’Mahony was thanked for all the wonderful times he played during the years. We look forward to the next ten years, lastly thanks to our great photographer Betty Harrold who was always on hand to take pictures of everyone and anyone.

ICA: The March meeting of Ballyagran ICA was held in the Hall on Wednesday March 6. President Nellie Cagney opened the meeting with the usual prayer and welcomed the members, it was a social meeting as we had no guest speaker, we spoke about the AGM in April and the election of officers on the night. I think the present officers are willing to stay on for another year.

A lovely tea was served by Ide Kelly for which President Nellie Cagney thanked her. The April meeting will be the AGM and we would appreciate if all members could attend.

AGA: AGA, the local Active Retirement Association will hold their AGM in Ballyagran Parish Hall on Tuesday March 19 at 7.30pm. All committee members are requested to attend as well as club members.

MUSIC: James O’Callaghan will be playing his usual music, song and dance in Kilmallock Centre.
