During Lent Mass is celebrated each Wednesday night in Meanus Church at 7.30 p.m.

The Anniversary Mass on next Saturday night, 16th March, at 7.30p.m. is for Liam Hogan. It is also the Month’s Mind Mass for Paddy Mulqueen.

Scoil Dean Cussen: Enrolment forms for new pupils commencing school at Scoil Dean Cussen, Bruff, September 2013, are now available from the school office. We look forward to welcoming your child to the school community.

Community Council: Bruff, Grange and Meanus Community Council are organising a St. Patrick’s Day Parade again this year to be held on St. Patrick’s Day, 17th March. The Parade will assemble at Scoil Dean Cussen at 3 p.m. and parade through the town. This being the year of “The Gathering” an extra effort is being made and it is hoped that all the clubs in the parish will be represented.

Dog Night Launch: Bruff Community Playground Committee launched their major fundraising event “A Night at the Dogs” in Bruff on last Saturday morning. The event takes place at Limerick Greyhound Racing Track on Saturday 11th May. The programme for the night includes the valuable Roches Feeds Munster Oaks and also features the Auction of a Greyhound Pup specially selected by leading trainer Paul Hennessy. The novelty of the event plus the comfortable facilities at the stadium, with children under 16 going free, makes for a very enjoyable night out. It is hoped that this venture will contribute a major portion of funds needed to commence the project. When up and running the Playground will service the local communities of Bruff, Grange and Meanus and surrounding areas and is eagerly awaited.

Immediately after the St Patrick’s Day Parade in Bruff the Playground Committee are holding a fundraising Duck Race in the Morning Star River. Ducks are on sale at €5 each with €100 going to the winner and cash prizes for 2nd, 3rd and 4th place.

Table Quiz: Meanus Defibulator Group are holding their Annual Family Table Quiz again this year on Good Friday night, 29th March. Any unwanted gifts would be greatly appreciated for the raffle. Contact Ursula at 087 2304757, or Jim at 087 6201606.

GAA: At the South Board All Star Awards 2012 night held in Bulgaden Castle on last Saturday night Antony Punch, Caption of Camogue Rovers Junior B Football Team received the Award for Junior B Football. Antony is also a member of Camogue Rovers Junior B Hurling team and a member of Bruff Under 21 Hurling and Football teams.

The local club: Camogue Rovers are again promoting the Gaelic Grounds Development Draw. As well as all the very good prizes in the draw it is also a very important fundraiser for the club and all the usual members and any new members would be very much appreciated. Names and money can be given to the usual club members as soon as possible.

Birthday: Pat Dempsey, Glenogra, celebrated his 60th Birthday with a party at Dempsey’s Bar on last Friday night attended by his family and a very large gathering of relatives and friends. Music for the occasion was supplied by the very popular Eddie Keogh and a very enjoyable celebration was enjoyed by all.

Cards: Winners at last Sunday night’s cards in Meanus were: 1st Prize: Ann Potter and Josie Lynch. 2nd Prize: Caroline Fitzgerald and Tom Begley. Table Prizes: Patsy Healy and Crissie Bagnell, Mick Joe Quirke and Pat Riordan, Willie O’Brien and Maureen Haigney.
