A COUNTY Limerick environmental management firm has opened a new facility which will allow it to create 65 jobs by 2015.

Based in Crecora, AMCS supplies IT, management and tracking solutions for the recycling and environmental management sectors.

Established in 2003, the firm currently employs 65 people.

But thanks to its acquisition of British software provider The Solution Works, the company is now able to expand, with the new jobs coming in software development, software support, project management and sales and marketing.

The AMCS group’s CEO Jimmy Martin said: “The launch of our new research and development centre highlights our commitment to expanding our servicing capabilities in order to meet the ever changing needs of our clients. In the last two years we have invested approximately €4 million in research, development and international expansion. We will continue to develop innovative and integrated end-to-end software and hardware systems that maximise efficiencies and profitability for our clients and helps them meet their recycling targets.”

The AMCS group provides measurement and billing solutions for more than one million households in Ireland alone.

Thanks to Enterprise Ireland, Mr Martin said the firm has expanded its presence in continental Europe, the UK and the USA, creating 30 further jobs.

“We believe our unique technology and expertise puts us in an ideal position to become an industry leader, not only in our existing markets but across Europe and the USA,” he told those gathered at the official announcement.
