There was no winner of the jackpot. Lucky dips winners: Muriel O’Sullivan, Rachel Cregan, Lorraine Lynch,

Sinead and Chris Enright. Next week’s jackpot will be €5,350.00.

CHURCH NEWS: Minister of the Word is Katie Shiels for Saturday February 1 and Pat McMorrow for Sunday February 2.

Eucharistic Ministers are Mary O’Neill and Margaret O’Leary for Saturday February 1, Josephine Horan and Kathleen Holland for Sunday February 2.

COMMUNITY GAMES: As some children have expressed disappointment at not being able to compete in various Community Games competitions we have decided to try again to get a committee up and running for the year.

On the advice of the County Executive Committee we are calling another meeting on Thursday January 30 at 8pm in the Community Centre. We are appealing to parents and anyone living within the area to come along and give whatever time you have available to give, be it large or small to develop the interests and talents of the children of Kilcornan.

We must have a committee together to proceed. We need to affiliate the area by the end of January, Outgoing Secretary Antoinette Corrigan and Bridget Kelly are willing to stay on but will need a few others to join them.

So we look forward to seeing you on Thursday night. Please come along and bring a friend.

COMMUNITY COUNCIL: Thank you to everyone who helped out at the Senior Citizens party last Sunday in the Community Centre. A most enjoyable day was had.

GRANDPARENTS DAY: Kilcornan National School will hold their annual Grandparents Day on this Thursday, January 30 at 1 pm in the Community Hall. All grandparents of pupils welcome for light entertainment and cup of tea.

CAPPAGH/KILCORNAN G.A.A. CLUB: Sympathy is extended to the wife and family of Shane Hourigan Ballywilliam, Rathkeale, Co. Limerick who has died following an accident. An accomplished G.A.A. referee he will be sadly missed by his wife Marie, son Shane, mother Helen, brothers Dan, Billy and Dermot, sisters Karen and Elaine, Mark, Meghan, Shona, Mikayla, and his extended family.

Our Committee are in the process of affiliation of teams and registration of players for the coming year consequently a meeting will be held on Thursday evening at 8.30 in the Community Centre, Kilcornan to inform the club members of progress so far.

Coaching continues in the school in Kilcornan each Friday at 1pm. Last week’s session was enjoyed by both boys and girls.

Gum Shields now Compulsory.We wish to advise that Gum Shields are now compulsory for all footballers from Bord na nOg level right up to Junior level. The new rule will be strictly enforced in all training sessions and matches.

Club membership for the 2014 season is now due. Rates for 2014 remain unchanged from last year and are as follows: Adult €20, Under-18 €10 and a family rate of €50.

SET DANCING: Set dancing has resumed at 8.30pm each Monday evening in Kilcornan House. Beginners and advanced welcome. Dancing from 8.30 to 10.30.
