HISTORICAL SOCIETY: At the Annual General Meeting of Tarbert Historical and Heritage Society held in the Bridewell on Saturday .January 18, the following Officers and Committee were elected.

Single/Family membership was agreed at €2O for this year. Votes of sympathy were passed to the family and relatives of Eileen Langan, Tarbert Island and Joan Lavery, Church Street who died recently.
ENABLE IRELAND: Thank you to everyone who contributed to the recent Church gate collection for Enable Ireland. Amount raised €326.35.
CHURCHGATE COLLECTIONS: In the weeks coming up to Christmas three organisations took up Church Gate Collections without publicly acknowledging the amounts collected. In the interest of transparency and accountability there is a moral obligation on people to publicly acknowledge amounts collected via the Church Newsletter.
KNOCKFIERNA: Next Saturday February 1, Minister for Arts, Culture and Gaeltacht Jimmy Deenihan will visit Knockfierna at 2.30pm. Mr. Deenihan will launch a guide brochure of Knockfierna which shows famine roads, potato ridges which are still intact since the famine of 1847. All are welcome for this very unique occasion. The afternoon will be followed by entertainment at the Rambling House. All are welcome.
CANCER MEMORIAL RUN: On Sunday March16, a 5km Fun Run and 4Km Walk will take place in the village of Foynes. The walk is being organized to remember all those who have lost their lives to Cancer in the Shannon Estuary area. Following the run refreshments will be available in the Community Centre Foynes. ENTERTAINMENT: A spectacular one man show with Kerry Native, Mike O’Mahony who brings to life the story of Robert W. Service known as “Bard of the Yukon” on Tuesday, February 11 at 8pm sharp..
