CHOIRS: “Stars, Choirs & Carols” have launched a nationwide appeal for choirs and choral societies to join in breaking the Guinness World Record for the most people singing Christmas Carols together in one location. The event will take place in Croke Park Stadium on Thursday, 19 December between 7pm & 9pm and will be hosted by Miriam O’Callaghan. In addition to breaking the world record they are hoping to raise money on behalf of both www.clionasfoundation.com and www.sanctuary.ie. Choirs and choral societies will be singing for success along with Louis Walsh, The Army no 1 Band, The Dublin Gospel Choir, Celine Byrne & many, many more…… ”RTE will be recording the event and broadcasting a one hour special on Sunday, 22nd December and The Oprah Magazine have been in touch to enquire if the event will be streamed live on the evening!!! BEREAVEMENT SUPPORT: The next Bereavement Support Information Evening will take place in Milford Care Centre on Tuesday 26 Nov from 7-8.30pm in the Seminar Rooms 1 & 2, First Floor New Day Care Building.
PARISH HISTORIES: A book on the history of all the parishes in the Diocese will be available to purchase shortly. Cappagh are getting 100 copies of this book. This book is a once off publication and will cost €20, normally would retail at €35. To secure a copy of this publication, please leave your name into the sacristy with €20. Please bear in mind that there is only 100 copies for Cappagh. This book would be a lovely Christmas present.
CONSOLE: Console is holding the annual Christmas ‘Celebration of Light’ service in the Augustinian Church, O’Connell Street, Limerick at 4.00 p.m. on Sunday, 1 December, to remember loved ones lost to suicide.
DOG NIGHT: The Board of Management and the Parents Association are holding a family night at the dogs. This fundraiser is in aid of St. James School, Cappagh on Friday 29 November at Limerick Greyhound Stadium. First Race at 7.45pm. The cost is €10 per adult, U16’s free. Face painting and nail art for younger children. Proceeds from the night are going towards the refurbishment of two school classrooms. Thank you in advance for your support. Look forward to seeing you on the night. Committee members will be selling tickets in the parish over the coming weeks.
CEILI: West Limerick 102FM are holding a Ceili Night in Knockaderry Community Centre on Friday night 22 November starting at 9.30pm. Music by Donie Nolan. Admission €10 and tea/coffee served. Raffle on the night.
TASTE OF CHRISTMAS: Taste of Christmas with Chef Aidan McGrath at D & M Garden Centre, Croagh on Saturday 23 November at 8pm in aid of Friends of St. Ita’s Hospice Fund. Book now tickets €12.50 each.
SANTA: Well that magical time of year is fast approaching and Santa is getting ready for his annual visit to Cappagh House on Saturday 14 and Sunday 15 December. Due to the huge success of our Santa experience over the past few years, we have decided to host the event over two days this year, and our proceeds will be going to St Gabriel’s in Limerick. Santa will need more helpers, some car parking assistants, face painters, sleigh drivers etc. If you are available to help on either the 14th or 15th, and want to get involved in the Santa experience we would love to hear from you. You can either contact Ann Madigan or Steve Carey. It is great fun and you certainly will enjoy it. More information later.
FARM SHOP: The Community Council are holding a market of locally grown organic produce – FARM SHOP in the Community Hall on Thursday of each week from 11.30am to 12.30pm and from 1.30pm to 4pm. The Community Council wishes to thank those supporting the shop each Thursday. It has a loyal following, but needs more support from the parish at large to be worthwhile. Profits earned will go towards maintenance of the hall. Please support your local Community Hall.
SOCIAL CLUB: The Alzheimer Society of Ireland hold a Social Club for people with dementia and their carer, in a supported environment, which takes place each Tuesday morning in the Woodsfield House Hotel, between 11am and 1pm. There is no charge to attend and tea and coffee are provided. Please phone Mary at 061-313456 if you would like to attend, or just call to Woodsfield House Hotel on Tuesdays from 11am.
