YOUTH PROJECTS: It’s been a hive of activity in East Limerick lately with Castleconnell and Caherconlish Youth Projects, collectively known as Caherconnell, taking part in an array of activities and training programmes.

Young people from Castleconnell took part in the recent John Enright Festival, with local band ‘One Simple Word’ and DJ Cian O’Brien, entertaining the masses in a Youth Disco.

Castleconnell’s young minds were joined by their peers from Caherconlish as they took part in a SMIT Junior Leadership and youth committee training programme at Boland Meadows, Foynes, during the recent mid-term break.

The skills learned during the SMIT training will certainly stand to the group as we established youth committees in two communities,’ said Martin Duhig, Limerick Youth Service.

Young people are also taking part in a Coping On programme while are looking to start at cyberbullying awareness programme in the near future,’ continued Mr. Duhig, Castleconnell Youth Project.

Mr Duhig also told infolink that a Health & Fitness programme for over 18s has also started and is proving quite popular.

Castleconnell and Caherconlish Youth Projects are part of East Limerick Special Projects for Youth (SPY) and can be found in the ACM Centre, Castleconnell.
