THE Limerick Choral Festival will celebrate its 10th anniversary this March with a three -day event in the city.

The festival, which began life in 2005 as the Limerick Festival of Church Music and has proved hugely popular with local and national choirs alike, will welcome over 50 choirs to perform in the city from March 6-8 at the Augustinian, Redemptorist and St Joseph’s churches.

Adjudicators for the event, launched this week in the George Boutique Hotel, will be Dr Róisín Blunnie and Dr Eric Sweeney.

Taking part are the St Mary’s Cathedral Choir, St Mary’s Church Choir, Limerick Gospel Choir, Unity Gospel Choir, Ancór and Glenstal Abbey choirs.

They will be joined by several school groups such as Parteen and St Nessan’s NS and Coláiste Iosaef Killmallock, plus choirs from Clare, Galway, Waterford, Dublin, Cork, Tipperary and Wicklow.

One of the highlights will be the tenth anniversary concert in St Joseph’s on March 6, with 14 choirs all to perform. See www.limerickchoralfestival.com.
