A TENTH anniversary concert as part of the popular Limerick Choral Festival will take place in St Joseph’s Church this Friday night.
Fourteen choirs will perform at the event, the centrepiece of the choral festival, which takes place across Limerick this weekend.
The concert will feature performances by the Parteen NS choir, St Mary’s Cathedral Choir, Limerick Gospel Choir, Holy Trinity Adare, Glenstal Abbey School Choir, Voices of Limerick and Unity Gospel Chamber Choir will all take part in the anniversary concert.
The festival, which began life in 2005 as the Limerick Festival of Church Music and has proved hugely popular with local and national choirs alike, will welcome over 50 choirs to perform in the city this weekend at the Augustinian, Redemptorist and St Joseph’s churches.
Adjudicators for the event are Dr Róisín Blunnie and Dr Eric Sweeney, with choirs from Clare, Galway, Waterford, Dublin, Cork, Tipperary and Wicklow all to travel to take part along with a huge representation from Limerick.
Daniel Battle will perform a closing organ recital at the Sacred Heart Church on Sunday at 7pm.
