LIMERICK’S hopeful in the Voice of Ireland Sarah McTernan has finished third in the grand final, which aired on Sunday night.
Sarah, who lives in Ennis but has strong links to Limerick, came third overall in the hit RTE television show with Patrick Donoghue crowned the winner after 17 weeks of the programme, which started with 110 people performing in the blind audition.
While Patrick won the recording contract with Universal and will release Jessie J track Mama Knows Best, all four finalists - including Sarah - have also released their favourite song of the series, which are now available on iTunes.
Sarah, who Westlife’s Kian Egan referred to as a “ready made star” after her performance of Jessie J’s Who You Are, has released the song. The 20 year old has studied in UL and her mum hails from Dromkeen.
Sarah was praised by the various judges for her performances in the grand final, with Bressie lauding her sound as “beautiful”.
“You found a type of song that suits you, where you can show that lovely tone when you have space to sing,” he said.
Una Foden of the Saturdays agreed, saying: “All four of us turned for you, you did a great job.”
S Club 7’s Rachel Stevens, who was Sarah’s mentor, said the 20 year old singer had done a “brilliant job”.
“I feel like a proud mum. To have never stood on a stage, you pushed through your nerves and have done so well,” said Rachel.
The singles are available to download now on iTunes.
