Evita’s debut in Limerick with local musical society

LIMERICK Musical Society perform Evita in the University Concert Hall this week, the first time the Andrew Lloyd Webber and Tim Rice musical has been staged here.

The much loved musical, charting the rags-to-riches rise of the First Lady of Argentina, runs for three nights, opening this Thursday night in Limerick.

Set in Buenos Aires between 1934-1952, the musical follows Eva Duarte Peron from her childhood to marriage to military leader-turned-president, Juan Peron.

An all-star cast has been assembled for the production, including Gemma Galvin in the lead role, Martin McNelis, Mikey O’Gorman, Ciarán Collins and more, with direction by Des Henn, choreography by AIMS award-winner, Niamh Twomey and musical direction by Maire Keary-Scanlon.
