Restructuring specialist Hilco, which brought HMV out of receivership in April has confirmed it is to reopen the iconic retailer’s branch at the Crescent Shopping Centre.

It is hoped that some 20 jobs will be created, and the shop reopens by the end of the summer.

Hilco is still in negotiations with landlords with a view to re-establishing further HMV outlets in Limerick.

Thirty jobs were lost in Limerick back in January when HMV closed its two branches in Cruises Street and the Crescent Shopping Centre due to the company going into receivership.

Staff occupied the two stores in a successful bid to get the redundancy money they were owed by receiver Deloite.

Retail recruitment consultants Excel have been put in place to recruit staff in Limerick, and three branches in Dublin that Hilco is to open.
