We were lucky enough to see Jack Colleran - aka Mmoths - in Austin at last year’s SXSW festival.

Standing on his own on a stage with nothing but a laptop and a bottle of water, the then 17 year old cut a solitary figure in a showcase consisting of - primarly guitar based - Irish bands. And then the music started.

The electronic producer from Newbridge - who was championed when starting out by Donal Dineen - is simply astonishing at what he does, creating mazy, lush electro-soundscapes and beats with a minimalism that harkens to the XX, whom he has supported already in his fledgling career.

His release this March of debut EP Diaries confirmed his huge potential and now, when touring, has added live instrumentation and the use of other musicians to capture his spine tingling sound in all its glory.

He’s only 19 now but Mmoths is going to be huge. Simply put, we don’t think you should miss this gig.

Mmoths plays in Dolan’s Warehouse this Saturday, October 19. Doors 8pm, tickets €10
