THE remarkable band of artists who died too young at 27 are remembered in a show by Irish artist Jack Lukeman this Saturday.

Jack L pays homage to iconic singers such as Janis Joplin, Jim Morrison, Jimi Hendrix and Kurt Cobain in the show, playing in the Lime Tree this Saturday night (8pm, €25/22).

Happily, Lukeman’s show is not a mournful dirge, but rather a “rip-roaring musical celebration of life”.

Also playing in the Lime Tree this week is Decadent Theatre’s production of Eugene O’Briens’ award winning play Eden (Friday, 8pm €20/€16) in a major new national touring production.

O’Brien, the writer behind RTE’s Pure Mule series, tells “a powerful story of an ordinary relationship on an extraordinary weekend” and brings to life a “gallery of colourful midland characters”, according to the press material. Caherconlish actor Patrick Ryan, and Lesley Conroy star in the intriguing production, which is directed by Andrew Flynn.
