LIMERICK’S Yvonne McCarthy is planning to release her first song to the download chart, after missing out on Brian Kennedy’s backing on RTE’s The Hit show.

The song, ‘You’re No Good For Me’, about a bad romance, just missed out on the top prize. But Yvonne is going into the studio this week to record the single.

The well known singer-songwriter, from Askeaton but living in Raheen, featured on RTÉ’s new entertainment show last Friday night, live from Dublin’s O2.

The music competition aims to give “fledgling songwriters a chance to have chart success with an established star” and Yvonne had been selected as one of two songs put forward for selection by Kennedy.

The Limerick singer, well known from performing around the city, said it was “great fun, a good show for songwriters in Ireland”.

Of the song, a visceral tale of a man “who was no good” for her, Yvonne explained: “It is a song about a relationship lost, and it is very honest.”
