A gala concert by pianist John O’Conor at All Saints’ Church, Castleconnell, will wind up the Limerick County Arts Office Autumn series on Tuesday November 27.

John O’Conor’s early studies began in his native Dublin. He spent five years in Vienna, winning 1st Prize at the International Beethoven Piano Competition in Vienna in 1973, and made a special study of Beethoven with the legendary German pianist Wilhelm Kempff.

Inevitably, his programme will feature his beloved Beethoven. O’Conor says he “adores” the 6 Bagatelles Op. 126 which open his programme and which Beethoven himself considered to be the best he wrote. One of our greatest interpreters of the Romantic composers, his programme will also include one of Schubert’s last three great Piano Sonatas - D.958.

The concert is presented by Limerick County Council Arts Office with assistance from The Arts Council and will begin at 8pm.

Tickets at €20 are limited but some can still be obtained online from LCC events or by contacting the Arts Office at 061 496300.
