IT doesn’t get much bigger than legendary ‘hitmaker’ Nile Rodgers playing in Limerick’s Milk Market with Chic this Friday night.
Tickets are almost sold out - just a few remain on sale and they will be gone by Wednesday, we are told - and Dolan’s, who are putting on the gig, are to host an after-party free of charge featuring local DJs Aoife Nic Canna and Paul Tarpey in the Warehouse, Lenny and A2DF on the Terrace and members of Leading Armies in the bar.
But the main course is in the Milk Market, where Rodgers and Chic will burst through a stunning collection of hits such Le Freak, I Want Your Love and Everybody Dance.
The dreadlocked, typically white suited wearing guitarist, who formed the legendary disco and R&B band in the mid-1970s with bassist Bernie Edwards, is one of the most prolific songwriters of his generation, composing and producing songs with Bowie, Madonna, Diana Ross, Duran Duran, and of late, Daft Punk.
His shows with Chic at Glastonbury and Forbidden Fruit this summer were superb, and the group are on a national tour of Ireland this month.
Chic featuring Nile Rodgers plays the Milk Market this Friday night. Doors at 7pm and tickets are €38.
